    Kerish Doctor and Ccleaner(occasionally).

I noticed in the registration setup of System Mechanic it has an auto-renew button that needs to be unticked.:eek:

    Regards Eck:)

There is not TuneUp Utilities, which Glary Utilities seems a clone.

I do use CCleaner – but mainly for checking\managing Restore Points. Rarely use the 'Clean' or 'Registry' functions.

I use CCleaner, that's been stated before. I use it mainly to clear temporary files and have a lot of customizations to zap logs and caches created by day-to-day use. Been using it since the win98 era.

None. I either use built in tools or do it manually or both.

Regularly use CCleaner (sometimes including the registry cleaner) with CCEnhancer, stuff with warnings unticked. Never had an issue, but I have images should there be one. I do wait before updating CCleaner to see if there are issues.

But I'm interested: Has anyone had negative issues with Kerish Doctor? It seems quite popular here, but I'm weary of some of the stuff it purports to do..

In short, my answer is no. I've been running KD on 3 different home computers (both desktops and laptops) for the past 2-3 years; including every version of Windows since Windows 8 (including the Creator's update), and have never had an issue. (I do image backups just in case.) I know a lot of people think programs like it are snake oil, but I think it works very well. That's why I trust it on all my home PC's.

Thanks. Will probably give this snake oil a spin. I read there is a manual mode, probably that.

Don't be so negative...not all utilities programs like this are 'snake oil'.

I used to use System Mechanic which in itself is an excellent example of a utilities app...but then discovered Kerish Doctor and have now switx=ched to that as my main utilities tool. It is not well known but certanly deserves to be.

Thanks Baldrick, I value your opinion also. :thumb:

I was just joking, but I am cautious because there are programs out there that can mess things up. I used to use TuneUp Utilities some time ago, but stopped using it when it tried to do 'too much' IMO.

Apologies, paulderdash...my response was a little caustic and not really appropriate (was not having a good day when I replied...:().

You are right to be cautious...better cautious than not...and some can, indeed, try to do too much and can end up causing issues...although nowdays the good from the bad is relatively clear.

I would say...give Kerish Doctor a try...so far I have not had an issue with it. The only things that it does not do is (i) defrag HDD or SSD optimisation & (ii) process management, so for the later I use the excellent Process Lasso...and as a combination they work very well together.

Again, my apologies for my unecessary caustic response.

    Regards, Baldrick

No offence at all, Baldrick :D.

I am trialling it now, and it looks like a keeper. Also using Process Lasso, and standard scheduled Windows defrag / optimisation.

Curious - do you use KD in Automatic mode, or Classic? And you @Alexhousek? Anyone?

Edit: Another question. Would it be advisable to switch off PC Protection if one is using other security softs?

    Hi pauldedash

    Thanks...you are too kind. :)

Yes, I have all Auto Modes turned on...and that seems to do the job nicely...occassionally one will get a notification that there are manual tasks to perform but other than that I pretty much leave it to do its thing...which it seems to efficiently & accurately. And it works well with Process Lasso.

No need to switch off PC Protection...but just for safety I have added the relevant KD components to the exclusion option in my AM...and so far no issues on that front either.

Don't get me wrong...System Manager is a great app...but I some how feel more comfortable with KD...it is like SM used to be before it sort of dumbered down the more experienced user's experience.

    Regards, Baldrick

I also run it in automatic mode. I run it alongside my AV (Webroot) and VoodooShield with no problems. For the most part, it's install, run it, and then forget it. It automatically updates itself and automatically runs. I'm comfortable using it this way because I know that I always have image backups if I ever need them. (In 2-3 years, I've never needed them.)

Needed data cleaned up as "junk", broken/reset program settings, etc. The usual risks, but more of it.

Could probably train it, but not worthwhile for couple hundred MB of space at most and very likely negligible performance increase.
