Yes years ago avira's and avast's history is probably better than qihoo don't you think? Its good to see you using avast apart from whatever makes you keep having a go at me.Not the first time! even at AV-C you got all into it trying to argue with me.Not sure what fun it is for you to quote me and argue:rolleyes:

I am entitled to my views and so are you.So lets keep it that way and your questions on me trusting avast's privacy policy is already answered in my previous post.I am not sure what is your problem with someone's opinion.Whatever it is,my request would be to cut it out and please don't respond to this if you have the slightest of intentions to stay on topic rather than trying to cherry pick me off everything I have to say.

:p I try to keep it simple and practical.Anyway,I appreciate it.Although I don't think i am in need to explain my choices to people to justify my spot.

Nope, not at all. We're all just here to talk about our experience with AV's and to help each other avoid getting infected. That's really all there is to it. It's up to you if you want to explain your choices. If not, well, then don't.

Really, I can't find where the problem is.

#37 = You mentioned the 360TS privacy policy
#38 = I asked about avast privacy policy
#46 = Your reply about it, plus the Avira/ask com issue and your thought that I use avira only.
#51 = My reply to the above 2 issues.

avira's history with ask toolbar is equally bothersome if you are talking about privacy considering ask is classified adware.Just my line of thinking.I am okay with avast's policies since it has been explained by vlk before and not with qihoo since they provided no justification or did you think i blindly blamed qihoo without knowing what my AV's privacy policy is.Again,do I really need to justify this?

I did mention the statements from vlk about the concerned policies. You will find more if you google it.Qihoo privacy policy links was to explain/justify what I felt.I tried to keep it as informative as possible to your questions your honour! I see that this is going into A vs B so I will stop here.So if you will,I would like to stick with my views.

Feel free to draw your own conclusions or contradict any of my future posts.I will leave you to your thoughts.

True that but you know its easier for some people to jump the gun.

Yeah...against KNOWN ransomware. Avast is a junk. Comodo can protect you for free.

I think the tests that was being referred to were against IDP (BB) to see whether it can block ransom on its own.So it won't be just limited to known threats.

Funny how the trolls banned from the Avast forum end up here to continue their product bashing:isay:

I have no doubts you'll find excuse for Avast and attack me instead.

It's fair that you prefer one product over another, but is it necessary to refer to the other product as junk? Speak with the rest of us on the same level and you won't be referred to as a troll. It's that simple.

Well, it is a junk. Posted a video to prove it. It can't protect you. That's not even my opinion, it's an objective truth. It can stop some malware, but relying on Avast to protect you is just not very smart. Anyway, I won't bother anymore. Have a nice day/evening!

Comodo is a useless piece of junk, I would rather go without Antivirus than installing this betaware with all the false positives and mediocre detection. :geek:

Comodo will never ever protect any system, it's total overrated. Just my 2 cents ...

Not to mention the constant disk access slowing the system down and the overall usage of the product is way too complicated for the basic, average user. Avast is free and does well in many tests that I've seen. No sandbox or anything else required.

Oh and Tarantula....tried to be nice and you continue to not be. That's fine, we'll just ignore your posts...bye bye now.

I don't need to provide excuses for Avast, legitimate testing companies rate it quite well:thumb:

As there was a link above to one of my videos I must note that the test was done prior to to Avast/AVG merger in January. There has been substantial product improvements post merger which really reduces the worth of any tests done prior to that point.

The one downside is that it no longer plays well when certain other supplementary security products are also installed.

I'm far from being an expert, but I'll question the post about Comodo being a piece of junk. Comodo Firewall with sandbox and just a couple of setting changes can stop nearly all malware. I say 'nearly all' because I don't believe anything is perfect. Their antivirus is another matter but, since I don't use it, I won't comment.

Its been doing well both in CS's/YT tests as well as legit testing organizations.....for now.I understand how big a product avast is and when it doesn't do well people get upset and start to nail it.Other products also have had false positive issues, bugs etc not just avast but I think people expect too much out of avast at times. After all, people working there are also humans and if someone doesn't like all the rings and bells in avast either custom install the product or go to avira which has a far stronger cloud than comodo.

The only problem with avast is the submissions. They never respond to any submissions you make and you are never told what is under analysis and when its going to detected. They need a better submission system like avira has honestly.

I liked comodo till a certain time period until they started to downgrade their AV.They completely reply on their sandbox right now which i am not a big fan of and secondly lot of malware using comodo's digital certificates drives me away. Its been seen time and time again and it worries me to use a product who signs certificates for malware writers.

Not to mention the cloud scanner which sometimes doesn't even work. They were a great product till v5.8.

Well, I know linking to any YouTube tests is not allowed on this site, but I'm going to start doing some tests again to test out various AV products (like I did about 6 years ago). Mostly the free products, but may test some paid ones as well. I can be found easily on YouTube if anyone is interested.

Does Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business protect the MBR from ransomware? Which is better Kaspersky Anti-Ransomware Tool for Business or RansomOff?

And it defeats the purpose of the thread. Question asked was for free software.
