    Yesterday I started up a machine with XP (32bit) and with the previus version of wsa - and after auto-updating to the latest v 9.0.17.24 and run a scan, it took over 3 minuts to complete what use to take 36 seconds. - I ran a scan four times but with the same outcome, each over 3 minutes to complete.

    This added sha-256 must be some heavey stuff.

    @Triple Helix
    hi t.h.
    on webroot's website it says:
    "The customer information provided must be exactly as it appears on your credit card statement."
    so is it not possible to buy wsa as a gift for someone else?

    Well if you want to buy for someone else you can, but the payment info will be in your name and details: https://www.webroot.com/us/en/home/affiliates/wsc-29 and just give them the new keycode you get and here are the download links: https://www.webroot.com/ca/en/products/wsa-installer-download

    Here is a great deal if you live in the US: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/newegg-com-av-specials.361072/page-68#post-2688022

    A question on the beta codes. I have one, that I use on one of my PCs. Can I use the same code on a second PC in the same household? Or does Webroot only want us using the key on a single machine? thanks

    It's good for 5 Devices as it is a WSA Complete Beta Keycode! PC's, Mac's and Android! Also for VM's but each VM takes a seat. Have you entered it onto your online console? Webroot SecureAnywhere Online Console

    I am wondering if Webroot is still using AV engine from Sophos or somehow developed it's own engine?

    Webroot SecureAnywhere is using the full cloud Prevx engine they acquired back in November 2010: https://www.webroot.com/us/en/about/press-room/releases/technology-acquisition-cloud-security it's still has the same roots but has grown more and more since then. Sophos was last used in the 2011 products and they started using the full cloud in the 2012 product lines.

    Following up from TripleHelix's response, you must understand that there is:
    1. Webroot pre-acquisition of Prevx technology and cloud (<-2011)
    2. Webrot since acquisition of above (2012->)
    These are two very different beasts. I think Webroot employees from those times would admit, if you were to ask them and if they were to be honest, that there is no comparison.
