Thank you for the post Ron. :)

I like the one comment made in this article. I'll have to try it out since my cell phone is starting to get these calls.

"Here is a good tip for quieting unwanted calls that I have used.
The problem with turning off your ringer or setting “do not disturb ” is that it also blocks the calls you want to receive. What I did was set my default ring to a ringtone file of dead silence, then set a personalized ring tone for everyone else. This way, my desired calls ring through, but the unknown calls still “ring” but with no sound. The downside is calls from numbers you don’t have in your address book will end up first going to voice mail, but that is relatively minor.
If you search for “silent running ringtone ” you can find a soundless ringtone, or you can easily make yourself."

I check errant calls with 800Notes.com first. The Do Not Call list is useless IMO.

Same here. Agreed on the do not call list. It is a waste.

At least on Android, I don't see the point. You can allow calls from Favourite contacts and mute everyone else.

I'm curious why he answers non-recognized calls (those not in his contact list).

Aussie home landline Do not Call list pretty useless too. I get marketers calls everyday, sometime 3 or 4 call. Not on my mobile though.
I screen home calls through the answering machine. I do not answer unless they attempt to leave a message, which they never do.

    Maybe this
Plus, given his blog, he is probably in contact with a lot of people.
Having a phone is supposed to be a convenience, not a conduit for crooks and scammers.

If you are running a business you can't limit who you answer the phone to.
