Changes in AOMEI Backupper 4.0.4 (2017-06-01):
    • Fixed issue: When backup/sync data to network mapped drives, it requires to enter username and password repeatedly.
    • Fixed issue: If there are non-English characters in username or password of share/NAS, it requires to enter username and password repeatedly when the program accesses network share/NAS.
    • Fixed issue: If the bootstrap of the dynamic system volume has not been backed up, it will not be bootale when restored to other disks.
    • Fixed issue: If there is an error when changing the boot files of dynamic system volumes, it will not be bootale when restored to other disks.
    • Fixed issue: In the cases of mounting image files in Windows XP/2003, it shows the partition is unformatted when accessing the partitions.
    • Fixed issue: In some cases, error code: 214 occurs when restoring/cloning data from a larger disk to a smaller one.
    • Optimize event-triggered backup of user log out and user log in.
    • Optimize the task of long path in file backup, file sync and file restore and avoid failure of these tasks.
    • Optimize the task of storing image files to share/NAS; even failed to connect to share/NAS, image files stored on it can still be viewed and edited.

What I would like that AOMEI had is something as Acronis has to restore the disk images directly form the HD.

If you're you are talking about the local BOOT option... you are correct. The AOMEI Recovery Media may be added to your computer's BOOT menu using 3rd party tools such as "EasyBCD" which can add other OSes, WIM files and ISOs.

One of Easy CD's add options includes ISO configurations... This may be added. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY when using EasyBCD :)

Blacknight, you need to create a Recovery Media ISO image using AOMEI. Using THIS procedure, AOMEI allows you to create (2) different types of media. You can create a Recovery Media based on LINUX (a simple restoration media) or on WinPE (Windows Pre-Installation Environment), a more feature inclusive option. Either of these options, in an ISO format, may be installed into the Windows BOOT menu using EasyBCD.

If creating a WinPE Recovery Media, additional work is required in determining, first, what type of BOOTing System your computer is using... UEFI-GPT or Legacy-MBR. You will also need to download a large Windows pre-Installation package to use in building the WinPE Recovery Media. This can be a lot of work and depending on what you want to do with your new BOOT menu item, it just may not be worth it. If all you want is the ability to RESTORE an AOMEI image from that menu item, the LINUX Recovery Media would be your best option using the above procedure.

When the above procedure gets to the point of actually creating the physical media, it will ask if you want a CD/DVD, USB or an ISO file... ISO is the proper selection here. This will produce the necessary <file>.ISO needed by EasyBCD for installation into the BOOT menu.

If you want to use the win pe3 option you don't need to download anything. They have what you need in the package

Peter refers to a Recovery Media based on the Windows 7 pre-Installation environment. This should be more than adequate if generating a general purpose WinPE Recovery Media... and doesn't require a huge download prior to the build.

TheRollbackFrog, thanks so much. I already had AOMEI LINUX Recovery Media. May be I misunderstood your post 303 :(. I believed that you said that was possible create a local boot of AOMEI on my drive without external devices as AOMEI Recovery media are.

No, you did not misunderstand Froggie's post, and yes, it is possible to create a local boot AOMEI rescue environment without external devices.

To boot into a rescue environment without external devices the first thing you will need is an image of the rescue CD. This can be an ISO image (works for Linux and PE/RE based rescue CDs), or it can be a WIM image (for PE/RE based CDs). Please note that this doies not work under WinXP

Since you already have a Linux based rescue CD, let's just use it:
    1. Create an ISO image of this CD. There is a lot of software to to this, the easiest one is probably IMGBurn which also happens to be free.
    2. Copy this ISO file to your system drive into a folder which is not protected by Windows. Maybe create a new folder like "C:\Aomei rescue".
    3. Download and install EasyBCD 2.3 from NeoSmart.
    4. Run EasyBCD, select "Add new entry", under "Portable/ExternalMedia" select "ISO".Edit the name which should appear on the boot selection screen, enter the path to your ISO. Normally you would select "Start from HDD", sometimes "Start from memory" works better.
    5. Click "Add Entry", then click "Edit Start Menu". Tick the default boot option (normally Windows), set the start delay (try 5 sec) before the default entry starts automatically. Click "Save Settings".

Reboot and hope for the best...

It should be mentioned that EasyBCD handles WIM images better than ISO images. Maybe consider to create a WinPE or WinRE based rescue CD.. From this CD you just need to copy the file "Boot.wim" (under "Sources") to your HDD. In EasyBCD use "WinPE" instead of "ISO".

    Good luck

Thank you to TheRollbackFrog and manolito: it works, no problem !

For those that could be interested: you can create the ISO of AOMEI Recovery directly from AOMEI, it gives the option to create the Recovery media as ISO.

HI guys. I got a weird problem.
Ive used Aomei backuper and succesfully created a bootable usb. And then used this to image my ssd (windows7 64) of my laptop. Lately Ive installed Amomei again on this same system. But now the creation of the usb bootable media fails. If Backupler does say it was succesfull in creating the bootable media. USB stick is empty according to windows and needs a format.. (I get prompted)

Only thing that has changed to my system is I installed and deinstall Paragon Backup. Which installed Net Framework 4 x64. Net4 x86 was already on my system. Other than that.. I'm in the dark. Please help.

Do you have an image you can restore prior to messing with Paragon

    HI Peter.
Yes I have. I wanted to go back to that image. But the creation of the bootable usb does not work.I really want to use a bootable usb to restore the image. Am afraid using the desktop Aomei softwware will leave traces of software not in the image.

    Another thing.
I downloaded Aomei installer then and saved the copy. Looking back this installer is only about 40mb. The installers from Aomei website are now around 85mb. I cant remember where I got it from. Either download.cnet or Aomei website. It says version 4.0.2.0 and its SHA-1 is: C9F3FA2611126B068225E8DDEAB02D6AC9DDFA5

    Hey.

I dont have a cd-burner and never burnt a iso to usbstick before. It would ease my mind if someone could verify that 40mb 4.0.2.0 version of Aomei.

x64 version of NET framework 4 can be uninstalled from remove dialog in Windows without issues right?
