Is there a way to make it work for youku.com? My relative is using Unblock Youku, and it's rather finicky. Couldn't make any video play without disabling uBlock Origin for the site.

Plays fine with default settings. Can't help without details about what was changed from default settings.

I tried a new Chrome Portable install, and there's no video when first browsing youku.com with uBlock Origin enabled. Then I disabled it, got the video working, and re-enabled. Now it works, albeit still with video ads. Weird.

You can reproduce again by clearing browsing history. If uBlock Origin isn't installed, then it loads fine the first time.

Thanks, but it didn't really make any difference.

Like gorhill said, first try refreshing your Third-Party Filters to see if that helps.. Worked for me.

It took less than 10 seconds with the element picker:

    securityweek.com###simplemodal-container
    securityweek.com###simplemodal-overlay

I do not know how this stuff even works, I am not a web guy. Element picker means nothing to me as I do not even know what it is.

    Thank you.

Before messing with the element picker, did you try this as I mentioned above?

    Filters.png

Since Element Picker means nothing to you, do you even have this addon enabled in your browser?
The answers you'll find here in this thread assume you do.

Uhh yes I have it installed. All default settings. If updating would have fixed it I would have already mentioned that here.

It took a long time for me to do it but today I switched from Adblock plus to UBO. The reason being that during the last few days I have been experiencing freezes during the first few minutes after opening Firefox. It happened every time. After doing a few test I discovered the problem was caused by ABP. Disabling it or uninstalling it got rid of the freezes.

I am using same filters (Easy list/Easy privacy) with UBO as I did with ABP and all is working well. No freezes.

I used to use the "Block only other annoyances" filter for YouTube to get rid of video annotations but stopped using it when I realized that it doesn't work as well with HTML5 as it used to in Flash. So, I would love to get rid of in video suggestions like the ones in this videos and the picture. Can this be done with UBO? The suggestion in the third video comes up immediately after opening the video at the top right corner, and looks different than the first two.....but as annoying. :)

The ABP freeze is fixed in ABP 2.9.1: https://issues.adblockplus.org/ticket/5298

There is a Youtube settings in your account to turn off these annotations. Otherwise, I would think that the Youtube annoyances list should do the job, this should be reported to the maintainers of that filter list. On my side, I used the element picker and found that this works:

    youtube.com##.iv-promo-video

I had noticed that ABP doesn't use patterns anymore for saving data, now saves to file storage.js located in browser-extension-data folder. I believed the freezing problem came about due to this changes but didnt know for sure until reading your reply/link (appreciated, thank you). In my testing yesterday, I used a new Firefox profile and as soon as I installed ABP the freezing happened. I think I tested with version 2.91. Just to know, I ll test again in a little while. It only takes a couple minutes to open the Profile manager under Sandboxie and test.

Regardless of what I find, I ll keep using UBO. It works great along NoScript and the sandboxed Firefox. I tested the addon before, it feels great now as it did then.
I almost never login to Youtube, I know I got annotations turned off there but that wont help in my case. My experience with the Youtube annoyances lists is that is 100% effective when viewing videos using Flash, but don't improve any when viewing videos using HTML5. So, I dont use it anymore. Last night I tried element picker but couldn't make it work for what I want. I also tried the filter you posted above, adding it in My filters, I still can see the annoying annotations.

That's weird! It works for me. Did you add the "_" at the end?

Hi Bo, I've found "||youtube.com/annotations_ " works perfectly for me, but I'm using flash as html5 doesn't work well for me and I get very limited options for quality settings. I refuse to join places like youtube just in order to change settings. The annoyances I encountered were those semi-transparent boxes with the tiny tiny x in a circle somewhere along its border. Mostly these disappear within seconds but I came across some that persisted until you clicked that stupid little x - I can't imagine ANYONE enjoying that. :(

Krusty, Wolfrun, I think I placed the filter in the correct section (My filters). I restarted the browser after applying changes but I still get the annoyances.
