I also just recently switched back to Norton. I get Norton for free from my ISP, they call it Norton Internet Security Suite but it is the same as Norton 360. I just bought a new laptop a few days ago and so far I really like Norton, it is super lightweight on my system and the laptop runs very fast with all of the Norton settings at standard default. It is light years ahead of the Norton I remember from 2010. It is an excellent AV so far, and I am just about 100% certain I will keep using it.

Not to me. You can only access it from a 'smart ' phone app.

I think it is subscription based too.

Question for all of the Norton experts here.

Do I need to do anything to disable WD when running Norton aside from whatever blocking Norton is doing by default?

Is it ok to use Comodo Firewall 10 with it? I know NIS has it's own firewall but just did not want to have any conflicts.

    Thanks.

Nothing needs to be done with WD. I would not install Comodo on the same machine with Norton.

Could this present a problem for Norton customers who are also using HitmanPro.Alert?

I don't know but it seems Norton / Symantec is not interested in making their product compatible with any other security programs.

    On two machines for now.

Norton Security Toolbar has been removed from Firefox. You can install Norton Safe Web but it looks like that will only warn you a site is dangerous if you actually navigate to it as there are no Safe Site annotations in Google searches anymore.

    Gotcha all is well?

I really wish they would do away with the toolbars. I never use them anyway.

There is no need to install them in FF or Chrome, unless you want a bit more protection from phishing. I'm not sure if they can be uninstalled in IE but they can be disabled.

There are two different Norton Identity Safe extensions for Chrome. Which one does Norton recommend?

When you first install Norton Security you get Identity Safe extension version 1.0.5. This is the version that is supported in the Identity tab of the main Norton Security GUI. Also, when you open Chrome for the first time after installing Norton Security a tab opens to a Norton page that will enable the 1.0.5 extension if it is not already enabled.

There is a much newer extension (v5.1.0.80) available in the Chrome Web Store. It does not seem to be supported by the main Norton GUI. Also, I could not find any documentation on the Norton site that that even mentions it. There is a similar extension for Edge and Norton provides detailed, step-by-step installation instructions.

What’s the story with Chrome Identity Safe extension v5.1.0.80? Where is the documentation? Does Norton recommend v1.0.5 or v5.1.0.80?
