    Hello All:

Samsung Magician for the Consumer (v5.0.0.790) has been released. I have not found the changelog so far.

    Weird! With v5.0.0.790 =
    Rapid mode:
    "Not Supported"
"RAPID mode CANNOT be enabled (AMD chipset Controller)"

    Windows 10 Pro x64 version 1607 - build 14393.447 and 850 EVO.

    Hello anon:

Yes - the GUI has been dumbed down. I have successfully installed v5.0.0.790 on top of v4.9.7 on a W10Prox64 1607 14393.447 and then turned RAPID mode on followed by a benchmark for a 850 PRO.

For the moment, I believe the Performance Optimization, OS Optimization and, Over Provisioning sections have been sacrificed. Perhaps it would be wise to retain your historical benchmark data, and your v4.9.7 installer if falling back becomes attractive.

Yet no obvious operational issues so far.

    HTH

850 EVO here, RAPID Mode activating as intended. What's the benefit of RAPID Mode? I've heard it decreases overall PC performance.

At this point, anecdotal evidence would seem to indicate that some hardware configurations may support Samsung's SSD Magician v4.9.7.240 with RAPID mode functionality, but after updating to v5.0.0.790, RAPID mode functionality may no longer be possible. Please see @anon's https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/samsung-magician.377561/page-3#post-2634391 post #54 above.

    Pity.

So... what's going on with this software? No updates yet and they seem to have taken an entire generation's worth of steps backwards with the new version. Barring the Rapid Mode issue, the lack of OS-to-SSD optimization is the most ridiculous part. Why would they ever remove it?

Interesting. For me S.magician has always slowed down my Samsung SSD considerably so i uninstalled it pretty soon after first installation and used Tweak SSD instead and got a faster Pc. So i consider that program very overrated.

But i will take a look at this even though it seems as it is in no way a Tweak SSD replacer, but just to see if it does not slow it down any more and has some use for the SSD. It seems as it has not and is more of a handler in other ways, ways that you can find in other software which makes this one pretty redundant.

It is impossible to download it from the Samsung site, what is up?
