Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention and accidentally installed it. I paid for the Living Earth app now. It still made my computer run sluggishly. Can anyone confirm no malware in the App Store version?

If you are running Windows 8 or 10, no need to uninstall Avira Connect. Just disable startup in Windows Task Manager. :thumb:

Private tests from a guy who has no idea* how Avira works, proves nothing.

*just read his posts in malwaretips thread linked above......

Oh good grief!!! That thread makes my brain hurt! o_O

Mostly a bunch of folks that don't use Avira, discussing how it works. Dumb and Dumber ... :argh:

One more time, Web Protection is not the same thing as APC (Avira Protection Cloud). Avira Free and Pro both use APC, same detection protection there.

True, only Avira Pro has "Web Protection", but this is just a HTTP scanner. IMO, Web Protection is useless 90% of the time because it cannot scan HTTPS, which is becoming the leading method of web communication.

Regarding the ransomware protection at least, it looks like you are right about the difference between pro and free version (and this is not a youtuber's test)

Interesting, Avira paid was granted "Best ++" while Avira free was "only tested".

.pdf files have been known to deliver malware ... much better form to post a link to the website, rather than directly link to a document in a forum post ...

The above test tells a different story :isay:
But anyway everyone is free to believe what he wants. ;)

The above is not a test, is not a story. :isay:
    It's Avira's official statement. ;)
