I wonder why they don't add the registry hack to the UI options

Probably to avoid being sued by the makers of PUA's. It's the reason a lot of products aren't better at it.

On another note. Is there a way to force WD to update more than once a day? Mine sometimes updates only once per day or less. So basically whenever I think of it it I manually check for updates and 9 times out of 10 there are updates for it.

Because there is no much updates, max 2-3 a day, you can't push what doesn't exist.

But I do wonder why WU often alerts that WD needs updates. Why doesn't WD just update and suppress the alerts?

Yes it is, I checked after I installed the Creators Update and the registry entry was still there so no need to reapply it after updating Windows 10.

Right I know. But it should at least check for updates without manual intervention.

W10 Creators Build--definition updates vary, sometimes I get 6, other times two. Last few days, more than 2 or 3. Never get any prompts to update but do manually check often.. It would be nice to know exactly what you're getting when these definitions are installed, a la Emsisoft. By the way, download and install have taken maybe 10 sec. max.

No Win Updates all come down fine. It is just that it is not updating as frequently as I feel it should. Does it check once like every 24 hours or something?

Agreed would be nice to know. I have to check manually because I don't want to be on yesterdays updates lol! There has got to be a way to change this via registry, GPO, or scheduled tasks. Google search time!

I don't know that yesterday's updates would be the biggest of problems. If you have "Cloud-based protection" enabled in the settings (which is the default) it should be checking with their servers when there are any doubts about a file anyway. Nothing wrong with wanting to be up to date but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if you are not.

Oh I hear you man. I am just so used to third party av that I do not have to think about it. But now I seem to have to think about it (when I do).

Definitely not losing sleep over it or anything.
