I had initiated an operation in SAP earlier, that had been going for several hours when I got an error message in VS. It caused some unresponsiveness with my system, subsequently. At approximately 8.42 pm, I decided to cancel the SAP operation, and reboot my computer.

Hi Dan - Sorry cob, but 3.58 is not multi-user o_O:'( Reverted back to 3.57b. I know, I should have done screen-shots, but it's a long day. Booted into an Off-Spring account, VS visible in Task Manager, switch to my account, no VS anywhere.

Why would you just assume that a one time or lifetime licence would be available? It is a model...but not necessarily one that all software developers/authors must use. o_O

    Yes...I confirm that.
VS can not work with two acc, one must log off.
In task manager I see VS running but no VS in tray.
It doesn't matter if acc. is Administrator or not and when you log off from one acc., second who is still log in, must be loged off if you want that VS normally works.

Not sure at this point, but as soon as we finish the web management console, I will email AVC and other labs to see if we can join the tests. Thank you!

Yeah, we might be able to add the dates to the command lines... the question is, should it be the date the command line was first whitelisted, or should it update when that command line is encountered again?

VS already has something really similar to the install mode option that you are requesting. VS will detect whether a blocked item is an installer or not, and if the file is an installer, then the Install button is displayed, but if the blocked file is not an installer, then the Allow button is displayed. When the user clicks the Install button, VS will toggle to OFF, to allow the installation... although I believe it will scan any executables that are spawned by the installer with the blacklist and VoodooAi, even when VS toggles to OFF.

Having said that... we need to add more definitions to the installer, so VS will detect even more of the installers correctly. So if you ever run across an installer that displays the Allow button, please send me a link to the installer, so I can add its definition. We have around 70% of the definitions, but we are missing a few. Once we add all of the definitions, it will be really cool because VS will always show the Install button... it is just a really seamless way of accomplishing the same goal. Thank you!

It probably is not a great idea to run 2 anti-executables at the same time... but if it works well for you, then why not? ;).

We do not have any discounts right now, but if you need a license, just let me know. At some point we might offer a lifetime license, thank you!

    Hi Dan

Can you confirm if it's normal for VS to allow this command line to be executed by a process (Windows Firewall Control) without prompting?

    Code:
    Netsh advfirewall export c:\test.XML
I tried to block the command line with a block rule but it was completely ignored.

Personally I would like to be able to allow or block all command lines as I see fit.

    Very cool, thank you guys!

Yeah... command lines are probably the most non user-friendly blocked item that we have to contend with, especially since there is little or no file insight to offer the user. So in order to make VS more user-friendly, I added a feature awhile back there whitelisted items are allowed to execute command lines automatically... there were a few other checks in place, and I made sure everything was perfectly safe. But that is why this is not being blocked... I doubt we would ever want to make this optional, simply because in general, whitelisted processes should probably not be blocked in anyway.

This is actually a very good example of the types of little tweaks we can do to make VS even more user-friendly... this feature REALLY helped with legitimate command line blocking, and I hope to have time to add more usability tweaks like this soon. Thank you!

RE: VS not toggling to Off in Smart Mode while watching YouTube videos.

I don't normally watch YouTube with Chrome but am today and was surprised to see that VS did indeed toggle Off in Smart Mode. I nearly always use Cyberfox and this is where I reported VS not toggling. Could an extension keep VS awake, or perhaps the browser itself?

Thanks for the explanation, Dan - that all makes perfect sense. I can understand why you'd allow whitelisted processes to execute command lines and agree it should remain that way.
However it would be helpful to know which processes have been allowed to execute command lines - perhaps this could be recorded in a seperate command line history log, or aggregated with the userlog? If command lines appeared in the userlog, then you could allow the user to manually allow or block them from there. Just a suggestion ;)

Same old story here as well, on 3 different machines Win 7, Win 8.1 and Win 10, alongside ESET AV and Comodo Firewall.
    Nice work as always :thumb:
