Weird. Zemana Anti-Malware saw CF 52.1.0 as malware and deleted the file. I had to restore it from quarantine and I ran to install it twice. I've never seen a browser upgrade flagged as malware before!
Windows Smart Screen flagged it too. I think that might have been part of my issue, along with Avast checking it out.
Yeah, it installed the second time I tired on one machine but I ended up downloading the installer on the second machine. Both up and running CF 52.1 happily now.
Not exactly a browser upgrade, but ZAM flagged the last Macrium Relect patch as malware and quarantined it. I sent report via the Zemana GUI and 20 minutes later had an email saying it had now been whitelisted.
It is probably getting flagged because it no longer has a digital signature: https://8pecxstudios.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&p=11800#p11800 My own thoughts: If you can MitM the connection or attack the website and replace the installer with something malicious, then you can also replace the hash with the hash for the new file.
I have downloaded the portable version and it was not digitally signed. Now i know why. But as long as they are providing hashes, this isn't really a problem (except for some AVs which are flagging it as malicious)
Comodo blocked it and ran it in virtual mode so I had to unblock it and reinstall it. Gets annoying and Boeren is probably right it wasn't digitally signed. Solution is to add CF to your AV and malware software exclusion list.

For a dev who is 'stepping back', he is still pretty active. I like Cyberfox. Maybe he will chill enough to keep the project going.
Instead of dropping it completely, he still continues to work on it. That's good (10 months to go ... March 2017 - Developer: 'in 12 months you will likely have to find another browser')
I have downloaded the new portable version and i can see a digital signature. It seems he had the funds to buy a new certificate

Thanks @mood. For Adguard users, in case they encounter this: I don't think I have had this before with CF, but after this update I could not access HTTPS sites (see attached) unless I disabled HTTPS filtering in Adguard. I had a similar problem before when playing with K-Meleon, and Adguard support advised me as per this post: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/adguard-ad-blocker.342850/page-87#post-2666895 Imported the AG certificate in CF and all is well. (Some will say HTTPS filtering is a risk but this has been addressed by AG here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/adguard-ad-blocker.342850/page-93#post-2674302)
Thanks I have started Cyberfox without updating first and noticed a red "Update-notice". This is much less intrusive than an annoying "update-window" which has to be clicked away. And Cyberfox (portable) doesn't updated itself automatically, which is also a good thing (at least for me). Some days ago i have installed Firefox v53 portable and after launching it today i can see v54
