Thanks for the response, so you are saying with the MalwareBytes + Comodo v8.4 combo, it failed twice, you tried another time with just MalwareBytes and no Comodo and it worked, and a third time you tried with the latest Comodo v10 and it worked?

 

Do you think the Creators Update is the last major update for Win 10, anyone?

 

Surely not, another major update is gonna be released this autumn. This update should be more focused on performance and function improvements.

Surely they will rebrand Windows 10 to something else though, I can't see it being called "10" for years to come.

They'll probably just started talling is WindowsOS or something.

 

Win10 is a service, you will have 1-2 upgrades every year.

 

Speaking of Windows 10, how can you make Defender update more frequently. I am finding that mine does not update very often. Forgive my ignorance here, I have never really ran Defender in the past.

It does 1-2 times a day max so don't worry. and even you want more you won't get more. MS doesn't delivers hourly defs.

Can any one tell me if I install from a downloaded iso(mounting the iso and running the set up from within windows) or use upgrade assistant, is there any difference between the two?
Herect in Saudi Arabia the iso download links are not working, upgrade assistant is working and I am not sure about media creation tool.

No significant difference. I assume that your end goal here is upgrading from 1607 to 1703, correct?

 

The only difference is the update frequency: Current Branch receives updates and new features as they becoming available (cutting edge) and Long Term Service Branch on Enterprise gets only critical security fixes and bug updates - no new features (stable). The Current Branch For Business on Pro gets updates and new features (semi-stable) roughly four months after they get posted to the Current Branch.

Depends on how often you want Windows updated.

 

You can only upgrade from the Windows edition you're currently running to the same edition on Windows 10 - like Windows 7 Home -> Windows 10 Home - regardless of the update method used.

If you want to upgrade to a higher Windows edition. you must buy a license and genuine bootable iso and do a clean install. An upgrade path is NOT supported. Like Pro -> Enterprise, for example.

Just a heads up warning, Private Firewall seems to mess up some of the builtin windows apps. Even though I had the firewall in learning mode the store & mail apps wouldn't open & wsreset couldn't find locations & said there wasn't the required permissions. Uninstalled the firewall & rebooted & the apps now open with no issues.

 

I got notified by Comodo Firewall to upgrade to the latest version before installing Windows 10. Funny thing is I'm already at the recommended firewall prerequisite version!

 

Hi NormanF. It's easily to be confused. Comodo released w/ same version as a Hotfix to correct an issue.

Fixed:

− Trusted Vendor List could be reduced to fewer entries when updating from older CIS version to latest.​

Not exactly. Windows 10 Creators Update on my primary machine was failing. I tried once more to make sure that it wasn't just a quirk that session. The failure was reproduced so I knew it had to be an issue with the installed security products, despite the lack of information in the Windows Setup-Related Logs. I've decided to target first by disabling the both products drivers (MalwareBytes Free and Comodo PF.) The third attempt after having done this was successful to have Windows 10 Creators Update installed.

I've installed MalwareBytes Free on secondary PC, and tested the Windows 10 Creators Update, and it went smoothly. The culprit seemed to be the Comodo PF. I also tested w/ another PC the Comodo PF version 10.0.1.6209 - April 6th, 2017. The Windows 10 Creators Update also went smoothly.

I don't remember what version of Comodo PF I had installed. I think it was the latest 8.x release. If versions 10.x was offered to 8.x, then I had. I remember Comodo having updated few times in the past, don't know roughly how long ago though.

I know there's various new features and the skin has been change for the better I believe.

 

My computer tried installed the new build today and is stuck in that error loop. I had this type behavior on an older build. Can't remember which one. Ran the trouble shooter and said something like update file are not in same location
