I will uninstall my AV and VoodooShield before installing the Creators Build.

Well, now, there's something to be said for "sloppy and lazy", but I developed a respect for the effects of the Self Protect feature, so I'm following NWOAbschaum's lead and disabling v.356. Should be OK.

hey Dan, is there a chance that you will add a user whitelist section in the program to separate the valid programs that got whitelisted (in the current whitelist) and the malicious/suspicious programs that got whitelisted? i'm asking just so it will be easier to manage the files that I reported as false positives and to separate them from the harmless programs.

If i can help. You can whitelist your files/folders this way: go Setting - Custom Folders - Enable Custom Folders.

Hey guys... sorry I have been away, it was a crazy long weekend, I was doing some testing of sorts with VoodooAi. Once I catch up on my consulting projects in a day or two (my day job), I will try to catch up on the posts and pm's I missed. Thank you guys, talk to you soon!

Okay, so I put VS in training mode, and that seems to have healed it.

Seems a bit funny to me that people are jamming Dan's PM fully knowing he has been very busy on his corporate website ect.
Give the guy a break and ask your questions when he can come back and post instead of making him feel guilty about not answering your calls at present.

I had dismhost blocked this morning. Maybe because of Creators Update. I added a command line with wildcards c:\users\*\appdata\local\temp\*\dismhost.exe
    I hope it helps.

EDIT: despite my nifty command line (which I am not sure how secure it is), I still get a prompt for dismhost every time I run Windows Disk Cleanup\clean up system files

Yes, also updated to Creators Build. I disabled VS after installing 3.57 over the top, and to be on the safe side, I unchecked these two in Advanced Settings. Using the Update Assistant, it went without a hitch. Very nice!
    VS disable.PNG
**Also getting the DismHost.exe block with disk cleanup/Automatic Maintenance. No big deal but thought I would bring it up.

It doesn't have to be this way. The user should be given the ability to whitelist a process even if it runs from a different temp folder every time. For instance, whitelisting by hash, or by path with support for wildcards.

I think the majority of us know you give as much time as you can reasonably spare to this forum and VS development Dan :)

I agree... VS is quite user friendly as it is, but there are tons of small usability improvements that we can implement, like the one you suggested, that would really add up to a lot. It is difficult to do it on my own, but I can promise you that I am working on a permanent solution ;).

Hehehe, my goal is to not be a developer at all, and just talk to you guys, and figure out how to create the most secure, user-friendly security software possible. ;).
