Hmmm, that is odd, but there must me a simple explaination. Can you please reboot your computer, then send me the DeveloperLog.log and DeveloperServiceLog.log right after you reboot? Thank you!

The items in this posts (except self protection) are included in 3.57

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/voodooshield.313706/page-592#post-2659320

-Boot time protection… VS will start in Always ON mode, then toggle to your previous mode after 10 seconds. If we need to make this longer, please let me know.

-Gui starts much quicker and with the service

-Switch User / Multiple users issues should be fixed

-And also the new digital signature feature, and the small blacklist bug is fixed.

Thank you guys for all of your help, talk to you soon!

Back to V3.53 again. This morning when booting the computer, I had a message saying that a VS Driver could not start. Tried it twice but same results. No problem
    at all with V3.53

    Hey Dan,

When it becomes optional I'll reinstall VS.

    Thanks.

Are we still OK with version 3.56? This is a fine version on here. I believe there have been like 7 VS in the last two weeks, with a lot of preference for 3.53. Anyone else still OK with 3.56?

On 3.56 and 3.57 here with no issues on either machine. That said I've not had any issues with 3.53, or any of the subsequent betas.

Same here 3.57 is running just fine for me, so did 3.56.
So I will for now stick with 3.57 till Dan pushes another
one out. Dan get off the forum and get to work :p lol

We are getting ready to merge the code soon, so I have to review all of the changes since 3.53 anyway, so I will look at each change carefully... there really are not that many. Then everything will be right again. Once we do this, you guys will get to see the new smb / enterprise web management console, I think it is going to be pretty cool.

    Thank you guys!

Aaahhh, the Dev log cobber, we can both read that. The .dat files look like so much Chinese to me :)

I don't envy you here. I can see the requirement for being onsite before anyone else mucks it up, but OTOH not only do all the other security stuff want to do their stuff, we also have the M$ stampede... Does Gridiron have on-field brawls? We've all watched Slapshot :) My thinking is that in all that confusion any malware will have a torrid time getting up, so waiting won't hurt very much. And VS can't do much about embedded malware anyway.

In the sense that I've not had BSODs & etc, I've been happy with all of the versions. Once we get user switching sorted and then SP, I'll start looking at VS as "stable" and upgrade a lot less often. But then--as I've said before--I have a "mature" OS here

Sticking with v3.55 beta 3, for the moment...If I go to v3.57 beta, I lose self-protection feature is how I understand it.

OK, so there's a variety of versions around

It'll interesting to see the new console.
Lucky duck. If I could, I would, if only to escape all the blarney. Just compute without these millions of issues swirling around, like a cloud of gnats.

Tarnak, I double checked, yes, 3.55 beta3 looks like it does have the self protection feature. I wasn't sure at first and ended up scrolling thru the landscape of bypass posts in order to find out.

3.56b running ok here, I did not update to 3.57 since it does not have self-protection, but seems like 3.57 does have other updated features, and s-p will get redone in near future. Expect to install 3.57 soon.

Staying put with 3.56, unless Dan give me a good reason to dump it. It solved the issues I had.

3.57 running ok here so far.

No issues with startup or shutdown.

Like the fact that VS starts early - feel more comfortable with that.

Still running 3.56 on my Windows 7 32bit laptop. No startup or shutdown delays as yet but I do have one issue, if I leave the laptop unattended for an extended period (say 30mins) the VS icon in the systray goes missing sometimes. VS still appears to be running looking at the VS items in the task manager. I have to reboot to get the VS systray icon back.
    Using VS in 'Smart' mode.

Still on 3.57 and still see slow full start ups (10 to 15 seconds) compared to 3.53 and sent Dan a new set of logs.

I zeroed out the threat count, and already I have 3 reported threats (quarantine is empty). 2 of these are due to the virustotal uploader which never seems to remain in the white list (OK, a line is there, but the new instances still report positive). Maybe that's because every right-click "send to virustotal" action creates a unique item. That said, these are all false positives, which I approve, yet they add to the threat count. I don't know where the third came from since there is no log unique to threat count... maybe the virustotal uploader? IDK.

I would add to that... if it does appear in allowed Command Lines, delete it and add it anew.
