The Threats Blocked variable is stored in Settings3.dat... so if that dat file was not removed when you did a clean install, the old value will be displayed. Either way, I will keep a close eye on it, and see if I notice anything odd... it will be an easy fix if so. Thank you!

    Hi Dan

I saw the early start in my brief visit with 3.54. I don't see it with 3.56. seems like 3.53 is a bit more performent the 3.56, but that is a feel type of thing.

VS start first and superfast here, a split second before Windows own sound control and network icons. All other apps open time after that as usual.
BTW all smooth sailing here, not a glitch.

Exactly the same on my Laptop with Win 10-64, it has never been that fast before.

Hmmm, that is odd... that part of the code did not change at all between 3.54 and 3.56, but I will test and see how each one does on a couple different machines, thank you!

I am trying out 3.56, after being voodoo-less for about a month.
I am impressed. Seems to work really smooth.

I mean that my anti-virus wants to start as early as possible, HitmanPro.Alert tray icon is always one of the first to show, as mentioned Malwarebytes likes to start early. All this fighting to be 'top dog' means it takes longer before my machine becomes usable. I am happy with how 3.53 performs.

If you are going to add Boot Time Protection and Self Protection, I request the option to disable those features.

    Thank you.

However, my Macrium Reflect backup jobs did not run this morning. I saw nothing about it in the VS logs.

Has anyone noticed a slow down in shutting down a machine using 3.56?

(Win 10 with fast start disabled)

Well, now that you mention it. Last night it hang on "windows is shutting down" for a good 30 seconds. But I cannot be sure it was VS...

I have shutdown delayed at times due to a DCOM issue I can't get rid of. Shutdown takes under 10 sec. so any VS interference is negligible for me. Interface is a little delayed. Also W10 disabled fast startup.

VS 3.56 on m-c workstation. Running 24h, no probs. Multi restart/start, nothing I can see. Looking good!

    Zat it? OK, bye!

    Hi Dan -

Just noticed this evening, left K-Meleon running in my User Account ("Father"), switched across to Admin to look in a locked folder and noticed the VS Shield was still blue.

    WebAppInSwitchedOutUser.png

Maybe we need to leave activation states in the User Space we just vacated? And no, this may well be Not Easy :(

When I asked for User Switching awareness, I already wondered about how VS would be able to deal with events in a background User Space:

    1. Do I even want to know about it especially in real time?
    2. Can/Should VS make up its own mind, eg: after a failed countdown?
    3. Could VS react in a background User Space? It should :)
    4. How do we deal with a lock-down situation? eg: saving work?

We are thinking about a family member working in his/her own User Account while another member's account is still running/open. There may be all four Accounts open, one in the foreground.

Any other people here with families sharing the desktop?

BTW, 3.56 is very smooth on my rig. But then I do have the last civilised M$ OS :p

I do hope VS will run on ReactOS when this box dies in a few years

Yes slower shutting down but what is more noticeable is full Start Up takes much longer so I uninstalled VS and start ups and shut downs are back to normal.

    No errors listed.

My computer has always taken a very long time to boot up. Mostly it was Malwarbytes check on startup. I don't worry about shutting down since I only do that at bed time. Pretty sure my problem is all the security programs doing boot up checks besides all the stuff MS does like prefetch. I have noticed prfetch sucking up 100 % of my drive and RAM on bootup before.

I think most users want VS to start asap on boot, but we can certainly think about making this optional. Thank you!

Here is a version with the lock down mode / self protection completely removed. I really need to focus on the enterprise web console, and at some point we can finish up this feature if we want... most of the hard work is finished, and it is close. That will also give us more time to consider all of the different options.

Not sure what is wrong at my end but I am seeing virtually no change in startup or shutdown times with v3.56 installed.

Thank you for pointing this out... please try 3.57 with the sp removed, and let me know what other adjustments we need to make. I will test it some as well. Thank you!
