Would someone actually run two internet security products because they don't trust one of them.

@Muddy3 seems it is complicated to people here to understand: my point is "don't use 2 AVs , just the one you trust the most" is it so hard? unfortunately it was posted on Webroot thread so of course webroot's "saviors" jumped-in firmly believing i said "webrooot is not good"... i imagine the chaos if i said something bad about it...
Incoherent, is a matter of view...you clearly didn't understood my point and seems you still don't. Whatever, nice chat, but i'm done with the topic and it would be more interesting if you would give an opinion instead of just quoting people, after all you were the source of this argument because i replied to you :D

More than you think, many does because "in case of the first one miss something" and it is exactly what @ttomm1946 insinuated, hence my advice to ditch the "untrusted" one.

Don't blindly just click, use any one of the antivirus mentioned on here and you will be fine. Its hard to get infected with common sense.

    Thank you, TH.

The statistic that stood out for me from this presentation:
94% of all malicious executables seen by Webroot in 2016 (and a whopping 1 in 40 of all executables were malicious!) were only seen on one single PC!!! (above video presentation from 2m17secs onwards)
Which seems to sum up a lot of what is revealed in this presentation.
    • How can AV testing organisations ever cope with this kind of trend??
    • What does this say about the efficacy of signature-based detection, or preponderantly manual determination??
    • Thank God for Webroot's whitelisting technique that doesn't only categorise files as Good or Bad but has a third category of Unknown for all files that it has never seen before, which are then given carefully limited access/privileges, are closely monitored, and whose activity is journalled until status is determined and, if malicious, are removed with all changes rolled back.

I'm looking for feedback and advice..A few months back I was bemoaning the lack of opportunity to add folder\drive exclusions using Webroot..After a few terse and sarcastic replies you finally said you contacted Webroot and replied in this thread that it would be a feature that was to be introduced, how goes that?

Probably because they don't have many customers compared with the big players that only in the personal use market can reach 500M

Moved my post guest - Thought it was more a story of general interest rather than being of interest to just Webroot users.

If anyone got snagged today during the 13 minutes that a bad Webroot update was live:

There are official fixes suggested for those using the Home edition and Business edition.

So glad I abandoned this program long ago. Having to submit files for white-listing and the terrible web filtering did it for me. Have had zero problems with Windows Defender ever since.

This is what happened to me yesterday......Furthermore, the buggy update also incorrectly blocked access to Facebook after flagging the social network as a phishing website.

They said the cloud rule that caused this was live for 13 minutes and was then caught.

same here, this AV is more of a nuisance than a convenience / protection. It's full of false positives by the web filter and I got tired of slow performance every time I format then having to reach out to support to whitelist files. It's like it blacklists everything until it's whitelisted.

https://thehackernews.com/2017/04/webroot-antivirus-windows.html Popular antivirus service Webroot mistakenly flagged core Windows system files as malicious and even started temporarily removing some of the legit files, trashing user computers around the world.

The havoc caused after the company released a bad update on April 24, which was pulled after approximately 15 minutes. But that still hasn't stopped some PCs from receiving it, causing serious issues for not just individuals, but also companies and organizations relying on the software.

I still use Webroot (Beta) and have had no issues with it. (Sorry for people that had FP's the other day. Hopefully everyone got there systems back up & running) Fortunately my system never went down or had issues.

Have you had problems in past with other AV's & Antimalware. I could name a few that have had FP's in the past, but that would be for another thread or post.

    Regards.
