    in the past i would have said something else but,,,,, lately the strangest thing. It seems Webroot is kicking butt at Virus Total being among the first to detect crap. Eset has always been good at this, but Webroot and Symantec both have really stepped up their game at first detection.

    I have no problem with Webroot working alone. I've been using it since it's launch date and never been infected. My testing of WSA is my Wife (The Happy Clicker) and my family (Grand Children in their teens) that have Webroot on their computer that never been infected either. WSA is awesome on the Mac computer also. :D

    I agree with ProTruckDriver but if you "want" a good 2nd layer that you would like in my case I use VoodooShield.

    If you don't trust a security software (Webroot in your case, seems you think to add KIS on top), don't use it.

    Don't use what? It doesn't sound clear.

    The one you don't trust obviously , whatever the vendor.

    I agree with your reaction to Triple Helix’s comment. I find nothing unclear in your comment:
    However, I also consider it to be nonsense, if you will pardon my bluntness :(. The choice of a security software should imho have nothing to do with subjective concerns (“If you don’t trust…” etc) and everything to do with its objective strengths and/or weaknesses.

    Taking the two extremes of the pendulum:
    1. If a security programme provides poor protection relative to the user’s particular surfing and computing habits, it should be avoided, period, and if the user believes otherwise then one should strive to persuade her/him otherwise.
    2. If on the other hand a security programme provides strong protection relative to the user’s particular surfing and computing habits, it is a totally valid option and if s/he believes otherwise, then once again one should strive to persuade her/him otherwise.
    That is anyway, at least in this domain, what I believe and how I function in my interactions ;).

    I'm glad someone is understanding me in the Webroot Thread as it was the OP's Question and I didn't think guest was helping. I suggested another layer instead of adding another AV and WSA has great detection and protection. Also I don't care about personal testing with live malware (people shouldn't do it) as most people would never come into contact with such buggers and most last not even a day and there gone.

    @Muddy3

    Trust is based on experience, observation and feedback about the product.

    Take my experience with Comodo, i trusted it for years (since v3-4) , solid product, great preventive features but one day i discovered a severe bug : the rules disappearance bugs (Comodo suddenly delete all the created rules by itself) and surprisingly it was well known since years but totally occulted and let unfixed. Only recently the devs admitted it and will make a fix (no ETA)

    Now does Comodo deserve to be trusted? in my opinion and based on my experience ? not at all. Based from this, should i keep using something i don't trust the reliability and add something else on top (let say Appgguard which i know will do a better job ) or just remove Comodo and just use AG? Logic and common sense will tell me to just use AG, who need an buggy soft as security main protection?

    Now considering my experience and since it is not a local issue , will you use it ? if yes without adding anything on top , it is ok, your system , your choice.
    but if you install it then add something on top to protect you in case it fails, what the point of using it?

    The user above is obviously doubtful about Webroot and since it is bundled on his machine, he considered adding KIS, so my reply was if you trust KIS more than WSA, why dont just use KIS...

    Your not adding anything good to this discussion and your a WSA Beta tester. WSA is as good as any for protection or even better. I don't need anything else I just like using VS and Glasswire for something to do.

    Because he was unaware of Webroot as a product, and as such, ASKED how good it was. You know, the whole point of these forums?

    @ttomm1946 here's a very simple answer for you: Webroot is very good at what it does, and having a free sub for that long is pretty damn awesome. I personally paired up Webroot with either Malwarebytes Antimalware or Zemana Anti-logger (I have lifetime licences to both) and felt quite secure.

    i dont understand your point about me... adding what ? i just tell the user to better use the one he feel more secure with. Why adding a 2nd solution if you don't trust the first one?
    I dont say WSA suxx or is unable to protect you...

    and my reply was , "if you think it is not good enough don't use it". What is complicated to understand? after that he can do some researches, get feedbacks and decide. Only him will know if WSA will fit to him better than KIS. Im not here to sell WSA or enforce it to any undecided users wherever i can. I pointed that 2 solutions isn't necessary (especially adding KIS on top of WSA) and he should use the one if trust the most.

    HE ASKED. Because he DIDN'T KNOW. An answer of "If you don't like something you don't know about, don't use it" is completely counter to the point of a forum, where you use information to grow and understand. It's not about being here to "sell" WSA, it's about answering the damn question. And if you CAN'T answer the question, or WON'T answer the question, why are you even interjecting your opinion? But please, do go on about Comodo for some random reason. It's fascinating.

    Again it's like beating a dead horse. You blabber about nothing so you add nothing.

    @Triple Helix you make me laugh, who kept mentioning me because my answer doesn't fit his "company" objective? :argh:
    if i said "ditch KIS and blindly listen me by using WSA because it is so goooood", you would applaude me...ok go do your marketing job...

    @entropism
    i get that thx...he doesn't know and obviously doubt about it and from that, he wanted add KIS on top (to be sure he is protected) which is totally unnecessary. So i show him the irrelevance of this idea. Then both of you jump on me , because i don't push WSA? :rolleyes:

    Anyway im free to tell what i want, especially if don't mislead the user. I dont need your permission, don't police me here, it is not Webroot forum.

    Look, I get that your grasp of the english language is... tenuous, at best. But you didn't "show him the irrelevance of this idea". You said nothing, you didn't educate him, you contributed nothing. Nobody is jumping on you because you're not pushing WSA. We're pointing out that you're babbling and contributing nothing to any side of the arguement. Maybe, just maybe, accept that and move on, instead of continuing to prattle on about nothing at all.

    I don't think you give good Webroot advice and who do you think you are? In my book just opinionated nothing more, not no WSA expert.

    and here come the personal attacks...often got this when people have nothing left to say :D
    just told my opinion about his idea , if it doesn't satisfy you , your problem , not mine, if you want i move on so just so stop mentioning me. thx.

    Im not here for that, i just give my advice.

    indeed, i'm just a user who tell his opinion, and since i beta tested WSA since it was born, i can talk freely about it. No need to be an expert on WSA, it doesn't need expertise (which was the goal, right?)

    Anyway , you keep mentioning me, so i guess what i said was definitely worth all this :argh:

    @guest why are you a Webroot beta tester and why even bother arguing. Someone else could be using your spot and giving feedback and good advice.

    It's not an attack, it's a fact. It's not an insult, some people don't speak english well. You're one of them.

    That being said, I'm done with you. I'm just putting you on ignore from now on. Useless to argue with you.

    The answers won't help you much and surely interest no one here. So better stop this useless discussion you created.

    you shouldn't even started :D

    @guest, to your original statement:
    @entropism responded:
    In so doing, he seemed to me to show a far better understanding of @ttomm1946 's question than you did. And personally, I found your subsequent replies to his point to be incoherent and, yes, "garbled", frankly...

    Pity the argument then descended somewhat into mud-slinging and name-calling. I thought the point of these Forums was to try and avoid that kind of thing?

    I have found Webroot to be good but, in my opinion, I wanted something a bit better in my eyes. I used KIS with Webroot for awhile and I think it worked better for me as far as protection goes. Like anything else, use at your own risk. IMHO, Webroot does a good job. Just not for me anymore
