http://www.totalidea.com/products/tweak-ssd/ @Triple Helix recommended I try Tweak-SSD. Thanks TH! I've just installed it on my low spec machine thinking that if I'm going to see any difference than this is the machine to try. Is anyone else using this program? Any thoughts? Thanks
From what I've found it seems modern operating systems deal pretty well with SSDs on their own. It doesn't look like this is worth keeping because programs like this will offer negligible difference at best, but of course your mileage may differ. Sorry TH, but it sounds more like snake oil to me.
Yes, I have similar experience also. I usually only check if TRIM is enabled, everything else I leave OS to deal with.
I had a look at it a while back, and I decided I that I had no use for it. Very occasionally, I run the SSD optimizer in O&O Defrag. It is supposed to help improve performance. I've never ran benchmarks to check. But it completes in a minute, so it's only doing a minimal amount of writes to my SSD.
I use the free edition of SSD Fresh https://www.abelssoft.de/en/windows/System-Utilities/SSD-Fresh it serves me well and I think I don't need anything more.
They are different programs, but offer similar functionality. I don't like either them. I believe I got a giveaway version of SSD fresh at some point, and uninstalled it before applying any of the tweaks.
They're both German companies too, not that that means anything. I wouldn't be surprised though if they shared a similar lineage.
Can you elaborate why? It's a install-tweak-forget software. I enabled all options except indexing and never experienced a single issue since then.
I didn't want to apply any of the suggested tweaks. For example, I don't want to disable Search Indexing.
Yes, me too. Therefore I didn't enable it. But apart indexing all other tweaks are useful as far as I can say.
So this Tweak-SSD comes recommended by one of our renown members here at Wilders. I'm shortly going to be employing a new SSD and really would like to run this if nothing else just to maximize whatever is available to maximize with an SSD. Can anyone who does use it or have tried it offer a newbie to this something brief to your own expectations and results? I will not be using a HDD Defrag for any reason on this SSD so maybe applying the tweaks can optimize whatever can be optimized and done.
I just installed a nothing from WSA here until I started the app up so it's just the files are unknown to the cloud database and will get them white-listed.
@Triple Helix..Flagged sooner then that for me. Was not too concerned. Thanks. @anyone...Can I use this on an SSD that contains data or will it erase/reformat?
I got fed up with this software last year. I like to "fresh install" Windows from time to time and Tweak SSD will not accept a 2nd installment using the serial number they issued, any program that requires a email to re-enable its is 'no thanks' from me.
