Well, the forum costs money to maintain. It was nice of the company (or whoever) to keep it open for as long as they did. And yes, thanks to all who maintained the forum.
Thanks for the link blacknight, they don't have it yet - perhaps at a later date. There's a myriad of free software projects with their own forum, please don't tell me that Yandex cannot afford one and that I have to thank them on top. Obviously, it'd mostly be a nostalgia forum and possibly even die on its own after some time. But who knows? A lot of great information was hosted there as well. I get that they have no use for it (the software is gone) but it's quite simple really: they'd keep it if they cared.
It's not a question of them affording it. let me turn the question around. How much would you pay a month to keep it open
When a software is dead , it is dead, no matter what the actual users will say. Keeping using it is an error because no more fixes, no more improvements, no more nothing to expect. So nothing to report or use on its forum. If some irreducible users want to keep discussing of a "zombie" apps, they can create a forum on their own. When Emsisoft Online Armor was officially abandoned, i uninstalled it right away and start looking for for a replacement, and it was not hard to find.
That isn't quite true. Online Armor code for the most part was abandoned and the EIS firewall was written from scratch
totally abandoned (unless someone give them enough cash to resurrect it) , just bit of codes were used as basis to EIS FW. Exact, i closed beta test its development when it was just a command line FW.
Agree. I loved System Safety Monitor - as many here - but when it was discontinued , I left it. Sure, I could continue to use it for some time, but what about his effectiveness now ?!
Because the good things are still good in our maind and as many of us here we sometime go back to "abandoned" apps to refresh our knowlegde...skills...memories. If you have installation pack and proper system you can do this but in some cases it's not possible - the case of OA.
all is not completely lost. we have started a facebook group page for outpost users. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2440093486132096/ see y'all over there...
Naw, I gave up my day job on October 3, 1993. Now I'm sponging off the government and loving it. Oh wait.... retired....
