    Hello,

    @Chigwells,
    please download the new PrivaZer v3.0.18 and give it a try :). Should work better now.

    @Beyonder,
    To preserve your HDD or your SSD lifespan, PrivaZer performs a scan on the free space to detect sectors needing to be cleaned
    (it avoids overwriting all your free space to securely erase it)
    Sectors not containing only zero's are considered as dirty. So, filling your disk with random data will not help.
    Anyway, I will try to figure out how I can improve this to allow a single overwriting with random data.

    @Krusty,
    I will look into this and keep you posted.

    Hi guys,
    Can't believe you responded so quickly! Many thanks, and I tried out Update v3.0.18, here's what I found (screenshot). It defaults to the second tickbox being 'unticked', so I have to tick the box each time if I want Privazer to do what I want. This kind of defeats the whole point of the exercise, I would kindly point out to you :gack:

    Any chance of being able to have that tick box remain ticked, I note that the first tick box remains ticked.

    While I was checking it out, I decided to go through Options and Advanced Options to review the settings, and I noticed something which seems unwanted:

    In Options, a couple of the options had changed from how I had them set: I have Office software histories (Remove office software histories) set to Yes. I have Microsoft Games histories (Remove Microsoft Games histories) set to Yes. Both of these were set to No. Does this indicate that every time I install an update I have to go through Options and check the settings. Please note, I didn't go through options beforehand (before I updated to v3.0.18 ) to check, so they may have changed during an earlier update, although I am 100% sure that when I did last go through the Options, I had both set to Yes.

    Ideally the user adjusted settings would remain as the user has set them, between updates.

    Once again, many thanks for fab software, Chig!

    Overwriting an SSD, free space or otherwise, is futile... false assurance. Eh?

    I use cyberscrub and it wipes wipshadow files which are shadow copies.

    Does privazer wipe shadow copies?

    I use Win 7 pro

    edit: Upon researching Telos' claim, it appears SSD cannot be wiped reliably. It seems the only option is secure erase utilities from the SSD manufacturer. How does privazer remove files from ssd's that are scattered all over ssd?

    Can you make the portable version have context menu to empty recycle bin without trace and delete other files without trace? Edit. I see it has it but I cannot tick the boxes. Also when closed it goes back to check forupdate automatically and delete reg back up older than one month if these are unticked and saved. If one make a restore point before ncleaning can everythig be restored?

    Does privazer call home as said https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16952&hilit=ccleaner

    I have donated to PrivaZer and was trying to get the automatic cleanups to work.

    I use Waterfox, which is a fork from firefox.
    Although manual clean works, automatic clean doesn't.

    After much trying I found that the automatic clean is looking for firefox.exe to be killed.
    As I use waterfox it's exe is called waterfox.exe and so automatic clean won't work.

    Is there anyway you could add a custom field for the donors version automatic clean so you can specify the exe name.

    If I rename waterfox.exe to firefox.exe then autoclean works, but I have change all shortcuts and rename the exe every time waterfox is updated.

    But it wouldn't be PORTABLE anymore,since it has to write that into windows registry..
    unless the creator of the app makes an launcher for the portable version, which removes the keys from the registry,upon closing the app.. (but you'd still have to launch the app into background..)
    This can be achieved also by doing your own script, tho..
    But then again,if something goes wrong,eg. sudden power loss, the registry keys are still in your windows registry....

    I did not realise that. Having context menu means writing to registry?. How would i do my own script?

    It does phone home because it informs you when there is an update.

    Nice surprise today. I can confirm that Waterfox is now working with PrivaZer donated.
    I don't have to keep renaming waterfox to firefox now :)

    I don't even know if I'm in the right thread. I am still using v 1.25 and I loved it because it was simple. I just wanted it for shellbags. For some reason it doesn't seem to work correctly as it use to. What can be wrong?

    I keep getting unable to write shellbags analyzer cleaner.ini

    I prefer to keep using this version on my win 7 os. Can anyone help?

    I figured out I was setting the registry incorrectly and was actually creating more shellbags?? Therefore I was running out of space even though I had enough for some reason windows wouldn't allot more memory to Shellbag Analyzer. I am still using 1.8. The newer version is way too complicated for what I'm looking for.

    Both 3.0.20 and 3.0.21 versions crash my XP machines.
    Previous versions work fine.
    I had to go back to the 3.0.19.
    Did Privazer silently ended supporting XP ?
