I don't think there's anything profound here. Digital coins have been around for 30 years. Torrents are as de-centralized as bitcoin, and for all practical purposes, do the same thing, except bitcoin works with exponential complexity of downloads so to speak. The Internet per se serves information. There's no inherently valuable information in bitcoin. It's a convention.

Quick update. Hanging out on LBC with folks and coins are moving at over 1300.00 USD now!

 

I've checked a few VPN and VPS providers that use BitPay, and payments are being rejected. No CAPTCHA, just a message to check with the provider. I've heard similar reports from others. And I just saw that Torservers lost its BitPay account at the end of January.

So what are possible workarounds? Some Tor exits have unlisted secondary IPs, and those might not be blacklisted. It's too bad that Tor doesn't have exit bridges I'll probably end up routing a free VPN service through Tor.

Longer term, what Tor-friendly Bitcoin/altcoin payment processors can we recommend to service providers?

Just think about that. Cloudflare was requiring a CAPTCHA, but was not showing the CAPTCHA to the user. That is bloody insane!

But it's fixed now. Users now see a link to a BitPay no-script invoice, which works perfectly.

Well, "plunged 25% over the weekend" is pretty clickbait. The price remains on exponential increase, with occasional pump/dump peaks. So there was a dump on Sunday. And it was back to ~$1100 last I checked. Stuff happens

And whatever happens, there's still lots of money that wants out of China.

That's good advice, as far as it goes. But it takes some skill to mix Bitcoin "anonymously".

It's a little dated, but the basics are still good: use Etherium wallets in Whonix VMs, and do multiple mixes, from one Whonix instance to the next. With two or three mixes via Tor, you have entirely different Bitcoin, with no link to your initial purchase.

One thing that has changed is recommended mixers. For an initial transfer from a clearnet wallet, Bitmixer.io is good. No account is needed. There's also bitmixer2whesjgj.onion via Tor. My favorite Tor-only mixer is still Bitcoin Fog. You need to create an account. They have at least a couple onion URLS. I've used foggeddriztrcar2.onion but their Twitter account says foggedddxlunnaaa.onion now. But be careful, because there are clones that rip you off. They've had problems occasionally, but they've always come through eventually, and I've never lost anything with them. Also good is grams7enufi7jmdl.onion/helix/light that Palancar recommends.
