Anyone know what the advantage is of running the 64-bit version of DS as compared to the 32-bit version on a 64-bit system? I don't notice any difference using either.

In Windows I doubt you will see any difference. In a 64-bit WinPE you must use 64-bit DS and in a 32-bit WinPE you must use 32-bit DS. I think that's why the 64-bit version was released.

Theoretically, 64-bit will be faster than 32-bit

I mean 64-bit app run in 64-bit OS and 32-bit app run in 32-bit OS

That applies to memory by here the over riding factor will be disk speed.

Since the file size of both the 32-bit and 64-bit executables are about the same as the like prior versions I doubt that any functional changes have been made.

Alex, if you wish to install DS you can install it over the prior version. Afaic I don't see any benefit from installing DS, so I simply run the portable executable.

    It has options
1 Back up disk to file.
2 Restore disk from file .
3 Restore complete disk from images .
4 View contents of saved disk image.

Where is back as image or is back up disk to file making an image?

    Hi David,

That's correct and (as a matter of fact) partition imaging is the only type of backup that Drive Snapshot does (no file backup, no drive cloning). But it does imaging very very well. ;)

The usual 'monthly release' arrived yesteday (dated Mar 17, 2017). The build numbers are 17577 (x64) and 17578 (x86), Since these two new builds are the exact same size as their respective Feb 2017 builds I doubt there are any functional changes.

I just recently ran into a situation like this and was wondering the same thing, so what better way as to test it myself.. I started by taking a backup of the misaligned partition with DS.

    1. Quick formatted the partition
    2. Used Paragon's alignment tool 4.0 to align the partition. The main reason I formatted the
partition was to speed up the PAT process since it would find no data on the partition. The
    alignment went very quick.
    3. Restored the backup with DS and the partition was still aligned. Hooray!
    4. Shutdown my working system so I could boot the restored system. The system would not
    Boot:eek: 0xC0000225.
    5. Took a look at the BCD with BOOTICE and it was not showing any partition information, so
I used the drop-down to select the partition and then selected save current system.
    6. This time the system had no problems booting and the partition was still aligned. Hooray!

What I have found with DS restores is that they will fail to boot if you make any changes to the partition such as resize, alignment, etc. after having done a backup. Usually, repairing the BCD resolves the problem. DS restores seem to work best if the backup and restore partition is the same one.

Not surprised. Going back and forth from my Win 7 to my win 10 DS is not a good tool

I see that many of the members here use multiple solutions for backing up their data. The same holds true
when it comes to software for full image backups. DS seems to be the most flexible since it doesn't need
to be installed and it is quite fast. I haven't seen any disadvantages except what I mentioned in my previous
post. For those of you that use DS along with other software for doing full backups, what are your reasons
    for doing so?

What problems did you encounter?. Did you have the same problem with 0xC0000225 and the restore not booting?
What are your go-to full backup softwares?

Imaging: Primary = Macrium Reflect (flexibility & scheduling), Secondary = Terabyte's Image For Windows (flexibility)
File Backup: Primary (only) = Bvckup2 (Reliability, flexibility & speed)
