I checked the modification of bvckup2-ui.ini, and it is getting modified.

Hmm, what are the notifications that you are dismissing and that you'd like not to re-appear? I assumed they were the one-time hints.

If these are routine operational messages ("there's a backup in error condition"), then your start-minimized problem might be caused by having the app started more than once on Windows logon. Check that you don't have *both* a shortcut in the Startup menu and the Bvckup2 task in Task Scheduler.

Alternatively - go into Preferences, uncheck "Start at logon", OK the changes, go back into Preferences, toggle "Run as Admin" option, OK the changes (this will restart the app), go into Preferences again, toggle "Run as Admin" and check "Start at logon", OK the changes. First two will clear the shortcut and the task scheduler item and 3rd will recreate one that's needed.

Stigg, although Angstrom tries to stop by here occasionally (which he has above), you may have better attention to your issues by subscribing to the Bvckup2 Forum. He is "Johnny (Alex?) on the Spot" over there when you have an issue, and there are a lot of other Bvckup2 users over there who may also be able to help.

After testing this application, I have just purchased it.

That's what most users say after they've really taken it for a spin. I've used it since it's Beta (which is Free, by the way and works very well) and am very pleased... true set'n'forget, my kind of software

A setting that I changed, which I think should be a default is:
When to backup > If the backup misses its scheduled run > Run as soon as it becomes possible.

The default setting is: Wait until next scheduled time and run only then.

After getting the settings to stick for quite a while, they come unstuck again after a reboot.
Upon rebooting, Bvckup 2 was sitting on the desktop instead of starting minimized.

And when I checked my settings, the "Start Minimized" option was unchecked and the feedback bar at the bottom had reappeared. I once again clicked "Dismiss" on that.

Is there a correlation there? There seems to be.

Apologies for the delay replying. Somehow I stopped getting notifications for new posts in this thread.

    > Run as soon as it becomes possible

Making it a default is not the best option. It will break well-timed setups (e.g. backups that should only run at night + network connectivity issues that got resolved during the day), it will cause a stampede if more than one backup uses a removable drive that gets plugged in, etc.

    > After getting the settings to stick for quite a while, they come unstuck again after a reboot

There was a change in Release 75 to how configuration files are saved, making the whole thing a bit more robust. This was over a year ago though, but just in case please check you are running a reasonably fresh version.

If you are on R75 or newer, the symptoms mean that the UI configuration file got either wiped or corrupted. If it were a clean reboot after an orderly shutdown, this should not be happening. But if it was a blue screen or a power cycle, then it could be the reason... though the R75+ releases should show better resistance to this sort of thing.

    > Annoying bottom bar messages

As of 76.1 it's possible to suppress at-startup messages about missed backup runs - https://bvckup2.com/support/forum/topic/797/4389 (second item on the list).

PS. Thanks for the compliments and the licenses, gentlemen. Very much appreciated :)

Stigg, I've never seen this happen. Those types of settings are not maintained in the REGISTRY, @angstrom maintains them in a settings file. The only way I can see them changing is if possibly you are returning to an imaged System state prior to when the changes were made... that SETTINGS file doesn't change by itself.

Are you running the LAST BETA or the current licensed product? If it's a cracked version, that may be why things are changing on you... :)

No, it is not a cracked version, Frog.
It's Bvckup 2 Release 77.1, and I've paid for it. I am happy to provide the order number to the developer for verification.

The problem is definitely caused by the feedback bar for when I am asked to provide feedback. I shouldn't have to keep dismissing this over time.

It might seem trivial to some, but I'd just like it to run as seamlessly as possible. Isn't that we want from a good backup application?

Re licensing, are professional and personal licenses lifetime with lifetime upgrades/updates?

Just to clarify - it was an issue with 78.12 only.

The issue "Continuous scanning of sources" has been fixed with Bvckup 2 v78.15, and computer reboots (such as those imposed by Windows Updates) can now be blocked while a backup is running.

    Bvckup 2 Release v78.15.1 Released (December 6, 2017)

    Thanks @mood

I set a RSS feed extensioni (Feedbro), Twitter capable btw, yet it hasn't popped up this new release.
Can you see it in your Twitter or whatever you use to receive updates notifications?
