Does WD affect Macrium backup transfer rate?! I've completely disabled it and somehow it speed up the process in my laptop or is it just coincidence...

Yep, you have to upgrade your v6 key first before anything else. Once that's done, it's pretty much all good but they do need to fix this issue.

It shouldn't... Reflect is not looking up FILEs prior to imaging, it's just dealing with surface blocks in use.

@TheRollbackFrog is correct, at least according to a test I did recently. I turned off WD and picked up a whopping 6 seconds (from 2:42 down to 2:36).

Did you try the option in Other Tasks -> Edit Defaults -> Advanced -> Advanced Backup Options -> Enable file write caching. Use if experiencing slow or failed backups

Yeah... I could back then only get "v7.0.1966" and it already had a newer version available inside the program update check by then. :)

I think I will skip this update.
    Version 6 is working flawlessly.

My server license that was kindly donated to me (and other forum members) is also working flawlessly.
I just don't see a need when "it just works" for me now.

Today I got a message I'm eligeble to free upgrade when I clicked Check for updates. Since there are some problems reported, I decided to wait for a while.

Upgraded to v7 and all working as expected. Its a shame they didn't revamp the GUI as it feels like an incremental change rather than a major one.

Yes if you check posts in this thread for past few days you'll get some info about possible problems. Since there is nothing new in v.7 that I would need, I decided to wait for a little longer.
But I'm happy that problem with license got resolved for me.

@zfactor: you forgot the offline activation.
If the person is using the same machine without a re-vamped hardware/os/partitions the registration works, since the machine id is the same still..
    or....
if the person reverts to an old backup with a registered version of v6. :)

Think I will just be patient and let them get it sorted out. That is what seemed to work best with MBAM3.

    From the FWIW Dept...

Anyone holding a NFR Gifted license from the v6 introduction... it appears they are now in the upgrade database. If you wish to upgrade, you may access your new license by using the "Other tasks/Check for updates" menu feature in Reflect v6.

I will continue to wait until the massive dust storm in the Macrium Forums settles down a bit.

Also, be it known that Macrium SUPPORT is currently buried in handling v7 issues due to the rollout... patience would be a good thing to practice in this area (that's what I'm doing).

Actually I had a answer from them within 24 hours which is not bad considering the problems they have to face.:)

Did an upgrade today on one win 7 machine. It was a perfect install, perfect RE creation. Tested two incrementals and a differenctial FAST. Tested one restore. FAST

Just to add a potentially useful detail: following Froggie's procedure will give you the option of updating to v7 now or later. You might want to verify you eligibility and then choose later and follow Froggie's other wise suggestion and wait awhile.

Reflect v7's most formidable competitor, at least right now, might be v6. I'm in love with v6.

And I'd also encourage people to leave this great company alone for at least a few days to allow them to concentrate on getting over these speed bumps.

All my licenses are on v7 now. My main issue was that they didn't account for those with v6 licenses that were once upgraded from v5 Pro. While waiting for this to be resolved, I got to skip other issues like timezone problem on the scheduled tasks. They got resolved by the time I was brought online. :)

So far so good on my end! Things have settled down for me.

Thanks for the heads up! Think I'll also wait a week or two.

Good to see you guys are happy with 7.
For me, I think I'll stick with 6. At least for now.

I just can't see any compelling reason to upgrade, no matter how hard I try. ;)

    I'm the opposite - I couldn't find a compelling reason not to upgrade ;)
