Sure... there were 4 or 5 events in your log with the following exception:

[01-25-2017 11:05:11] [ERROR] - Exception in NewProcessHandler_CleanupWindowsPathsAndCommandLines: StartIndex cannot be less than zero.
Parameter name: startIndex. at System.String.InternalSubStringWithChecks(Int32 startIndex, Int32 length, Boolean fAlwaysCopy)
    at System.String.Substring(Int32 startIndex)
    at VoodooShield.NewProcessHandler.?(ProcessItem ?, Boolean& ?)

I just need to check to make sure the index is not less than zero... it is probably an empty command line or something. It really does not affect anything at all, and it is simple to fix.

No, none at all. But your right it's not for everyone, there are other solutions out there that may

No that is actually very disturbing and not right for anyone, there is ZERO need to collect and use personally identifiable information to improve a software product ever!

Ok, but your not going to convince me, to take your position on VoodooShield.
That's why I suggested you find another solution ;)

    Hi Dan,
    Right here :
    https://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/antimalware/intro/eula/
There is no reference to collected information in this EULA.

    https://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/privacy/
About their “Privacy Policy”, I find it simple, clear, precise and honorable. They make a good product, and in addition, I appreciate their attitudes; The reason why I am satisfied to participate in their development by buying a license.

From what I can read (because I don’t know you), you are a friendly person, cool, without arrogance, helping, with patience, etc.
Now, behind you, there are apparently other people. They are attorneys, i.e. lawyers?
"...not limited to…”; "...and other services to you.”
    They are not clear, precise/clear-cut.
Boileau (1636–1711) said, “An idea well conceived presents itself clearly, and words to express it comes readily.”

That is indeed a very clear EULA and Emsisoft should be commended on it. I particularly liked this bit:
"We would like to make our position clear at this point and assure you that we will never consciously install a hole in our series of products in order to allow access for a Government Trojan or similar software. If it ever comes to a legislative or court decision that forces us to do this then we will immediately notify our users of this fact."

Unfortunately I suspect that any software originating in the USA will never be allowed to be so clear and unambiguous once the lawyers have got their teeth into it.

When Firebytes posted the excerpt from our EULA, he forgot to include the most important part:

    6. Consent to Use of Data; Privacy. You agree that VoodooSoft may collect and use personally identifiable, technical and related information, not limited to technical information about your computer, system and application software that is gathered periodically and automatically to facilitate and improve upon the provision of the Software, Software updates, support and other services to you. VoodooSoft respects your privacy. VoodooSoft’s use of this information is subject to the terms of the VoodooSoft Privacy Policy www.voodooshield.com/privacy.aspx.

Now I remember what the attorneys said about this the last time we spoke about this a couple of years ago. Basically, our EULA refers to our Privacy Policy, and it is our Privacy Policy that determines the specifics.

Please compare the privacy policy that you posted with ours: https://voodooshield.com/Privacy.aspx

I am not an attorney, but to me they read about the same. That being said, if you have something specific in our Privacy Policy that you feel is over-reaching, I would be happy to send it to our attorneys for their review. Thank you!

Absolutely... each country has their own laws that companies need to follow.

But if anyone finds something that we need to look into, I would be happy to send it to the attorneys.

How are you posting to Wilders if you do not have a computer, cell phone or tablet? All of these devices have extremely complex policies and agreements.

Valid question, can't wait for the response. Unless he realized that he has been compromised this whole time and has microwaved all of his tech.

The EULA refers to the Privacy Policy, and the Privacy Policy refers to the VS Website visitors - "USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION" section. Nothing for the software, which is the subject, but it is certainly a misunderstanding on my part (!), so thank you again Dan for your explanation and your patience.

Socio wrote about the "need to collect and use personally identifiable information to improve a software product".
I don't see where is the ineptitude.
About the privacy, it's not because there are leaks in the hull that others can be opened, rubbing our hands in glee.

pretty sure this was covered before but I was leaving voodoo in smart mood and not exiting like I usually do for an install. I know the file is legit but what if I didn't and I got this warning? would a home user just wait for the popup to just block the program?

Thank you for the suggestion! I emailed the attorneys and we updated our Privacy Policy to include "VS installable desktop software". I also changed the patent-pending references to patented.

Hey, does anyone know anything about this site? It looks pretty cool... I will check it out once I finish up VS 3.51, which I hope to have ready in 2-3 days.

Just because a whole lot of other are looting the store does not make it alright to loot.
Just because a lot of others are looting the store does not make it alright to loot.

A lot of the if not most of the posters on this forum go to great lengths to combat malware, viruses, and spyware in order to protect their personal data
Ah I see now, I misunderstood when I read "You agree that VoodooSoft may collect and use personally identifiable, technical and related information, not limited to technical information about your computer, system and application software that is gathered periodically and automatically to facilitate and improve upon the provision of the Software, Software updates

I thought it was referring to the software itself.

You see companies you thought you could trust that get caught collecting and selling users data like the developer of WOT for example, you start assuming the worst.

I think you misunderstood the question.

You have a zero tolerance policy, here is what you said... "No that is actually very disturbing and not right for anyone, there is ZERO need to collect and use personally identifiable information to improve a software product ever!"

So my question to you is this... if you have a zero tolerance policy, how do you check your email and browse the internet? Surely you cannot be suggesting that it is acceptable for tech giants to properly protect their companies when it comes to legal matters, but then expect smaller companies to not do the same.

It would probably be in everyone's best interest to not try to be a legal scholar, and let the professionals do their job... much in the same way I would not want our attorneys writing code for VS. Our attorneys are highly competent and they have done work for some very, very large companies and brands.

In short... if we did not need to have an EULA, a Privacy Policy and a Terms and Conditions, believe me, we would not have them. But if you are going to run a company and are interested in staying in business, then these documents are required.

It always cracks me up when someone complains about something, but is not able to offer a suggestion or an alternative.

What is your end game? What are you trying to accomplish?

Dan, your dedication and support to VS is outstanding. However, I think if you try to accommodate every post on here , no matter how trivial, that it will end up you taking valuable time from what is important, and that is development of VS. To go to a lawyer regarding the privacy policy because of a post on here is more than anyone would expect and I applaud you for it. But I'm just saying, people will be people, people like to complain, a lot. Maybe just let it go, can't please everyone, probably can't please 40%. Maybe you don't agree but thats ok.
