Great, another marketing "push". I hope that they won't include another update that will try to persuade users to buy Windows 10. Though I agree that Windows 7 is out of a box less secure than Windows 10, but it's definitely not insecure.
Well they would say that wouldn't they. Another ploy to move people onto Win 10 as their 'get win X' update failed miserably.
This type of push brings to mind the likes of Snidely Whiplash tying poor ol' Nell to the railways tracks unless she give him the deed to her house. A little bit of intimidation is the name of the game. It is MS marketing that is actually a bit insecure. The train is not due until 2020, so poor 'ol Nell is safe until then. Does MS have a Do-Right on staff?

[ Lies. If Microsoft is not offering Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB to consumers for free, I'm not interested in upgrading. They want you to believe Windows 7 will stop working after EOL. That's not true with Windows XP which is EOL and many people are happy with it. This notion we must have Windows 10 isn't even true from a security standpoint - its insulting.
I agree... it's not unlikely that MS might even begin to try to sabotage 7's performance and security with the updates now... I don't trust anything they're doing anymore... I have updates OFF on my 7 image....
I intend to keep getting and evaluating security updates until they stop, then "freeze" win 7 just as I have win xp. Gonna need lots of storage for those win 7 backup images. But that may not be enough. Microsoft is actively co-opting other important players. It may be necessary to obtain compatible hardware ahead of time. Depends, I suppose, on how serious one is about avoiding win 10. A telling statement by Capossela: " . . . we are pushing our ISV [Independent Software Vendor] and hardware partners to build great new stuff that takes advantage of Windows 10 that obviously makes the old stuff really bad and not to mention viruses and security problems.”

My desktop runs Win 7. My laptop runs Ubuntu. My tablet runs Android. My next laptop will most probably run Ubuntu, my next tablet will most probably run Android. I don't know yet about my next desktop, but I doubt it will run Windows.
Well, gee, all those Xp holdouts are going to 7 instead of 10 and those who like 7 aren't moving to 10. Software developers push updates like a religion. Why wouldn't they, it keeps them gainfully employed in well paying jobs. They also have an arrogant attitude towards their customer base. If they want everyone to upgrade to 10, they should release a version that updates the core and keeps the GUI exactly the same or at least gives the option to choose the GUI. Ubuntu updates are great, there are only minor adjustments from the end user perspective, the basic interface is always the same. In terms of security, I'll take a locked down system with severely limited privilege over a fully patched one any day, especially a Windows system. I've never depended on Microsoft for security and never will. I've run systems that have gone unpatched for years and never had a security issue and I've worked on many a fully updated system that has been thoroughly compromised.
