Kind of like talking to MS (so big they don't cater to the minions) :'(

You can only blame the consumer for popularizing below average software.

@VoodooShield Clean install, latest stable, updates done, UAC set to max, installed 3.50, UAC still working properly, registered activation, UAC still working properly. Could have been on the OS side of things.

I certainly see what you are saying, but I am not sure I would entirely agree with this… from what I have seen, intelligent and agile companies are always on the lookout for killer new technology (and I am not even referring to VS).

Consider these lists of acquisitions by the tech giants… how many of these companies have you heard of… very few, right?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mergers_and_acquisitions_by_Microsoft

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mergers_and_acquisitions_by_Apple

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_acquisitions_by_Cisco_Systems

Then look at Palo Alto Networks, and their $200M acquisition of Cyvera, which by coincidence, Cyvera was founded exactly one month after VS in 2011.

Search Wilders and MalwareTips for Cyvera… not much info, huh?

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/search/3750980/?q=cyvera&o=relevance

    https://malwaretips.com/search/977104/?q=cyvera&o=date

You would be surprised how receptive most of these companies are.

Yes I agree somewhat. ms, and others, is only on the track, to track users (money).
I know I am a throwback, that thinks of privacy most important. So myself, believing this and a few other left-overs, don't count? Nothing to do with you, just saying.
    Thanks

I'm seeing exactly same thing on one of my win7, not 100% sure, but we think (in my case) that a firewall is blocking traffic and I have no direct control over that fw.

Cool, it is either a firewall or Region issue... thank you!

    Hey Dan,

Were you able to reproduce the Norton toolbar in FF bug?

    Thanks,

Hey Krusty, not yet, sorry about that, but I will get to it soon, along with the 3 or so other minor issues you guys have found. I am busy trying to finish up our new enterprise web console (Alex the web guy is waiting on me ;). But my to do list is getting shorter and shorter... which is a great thing since a month ago there was seriously no end in sight ;).

I hope that's all that is getting shorter? LOL Sorry you left that wide open! LOL

:thumb: Cool! No worries at all. I wasn't pushing, just curious. It was only a minor bug I've worked around anyway.

Take your time and finish the important stuff first.

Cool, I am pretty sure within a week or so the only thing that will be on my to do list is to refine the user experience a little more with usability tweaks for a month or so, while we wait to see if anyone notices anymore bugs. Afterwards we can start adding a few more features, although we are not going to go crazy with adding features... as you guys know, we need to keep it as simple as possible ;).

Before VS falls in the hands of a company not interested in the consumer market you could release a standalone version of voodooAI 2, we don't want to lose it ;)

If MS get it for their AV it will be a shock to the industry if voodoo AI works as good as it looks like.

    Thank you VoodooShield !
I'm very happy, I've been waiting a long time for a German version
Most (door guards) are only available in English For example AppGuard.
I had tried to speak to them in German language versions,

    It unfortunately exists no need.

If I can help them (Voodooshield) At translation, I try to implement it.

Sorry, I should clarify... you know how Bit Defender licenses its engines to other AV companies? Well, I would like to do the same with VoodooAi... and actually, all of the hard work has been done, and our API is all ready to go, so it would be quite easy for other products to include the VoodooAi engine. But what would be cool is if one of these licensees had access to large clean and malicious sample sets that they have been collecting over the years, so we can retrain our models with even better sample sets. I tried as hard as possible to create great training data sample sets, but data sets that have been truly randomly collected over the years would be much better... so then VoodooAi's results would be much better.

And actually, the more I think about it... each vendor could use their own training data sets to train the models... so the models would be customized to their needs. For example, if a vendor wanted VoodooAi primarily for PUPS or ransomware, they would just include PUPS or ransomware files in their training data sets. It only takes about a day or two to upload the files and retrain the models. Sorry, I am just thinking out loud here ;).

About MS... VoodooAi is simply a much more complex version of SmartScreen (basically, true Ai implementation and A LOT more features)... and actually VS is simply a "more advanced and user-friendly" version of UAC. I communicated quite a bit with MS's machine learning department while I was building VoodooAi 2.0... and I shared our models with them, and they know how well they turned out (a simple glimpse of the AlgoBenchmark.png that I posted earlier tells them pretty much everything they need to know ;)).

Speaking of Ai, here is a really cool article by Mr. Kaspersky... he explains much better what I have been trying to explain for awhile. I also left a comment... I was not sure if they would publish it or not, but it looks like they did.

Yeah, exactly... we have to show that it would be of value to the licensee. Since our engine is almost exclusively based on simple math and proven algorithms, it should be quite easy to do.

Interesting, I hope everything will go well in yours and VS benefit.
Have you though about Kickstarter campaign for VS in order to ensure the future development of it in the short term?
I am sure you have a huge list of new features that we have been proposing and others you have in mind that could be part of that funding campaign.

Any news about VS being tested by AVC? Add the cost to the funding campaign ;)

Cool, thank you, I appreciate that! Yeah, things will be just fine either way, I promise ;).

We thought about doing a kickstarter campaign awhile back, but I was reluctant to do so because I had no idea how long it would take to get our software right. And now, we have enough momentum that it looks like we are probably not going to be doing any crowdfunding... but who knows what might happen ;).

I actually have not heard from AVC lately... I should probably email them. About 6 months before I talked to AVC, I also talked to NSSLabs, and they offered to include us in on the test, but then somehow they did not get my last email or something, and it never happened. But I hope VS is in those test soon.

Oops, I forgot to mention one thing about Ai. A lot of people are insisting that Ai does not yet exist… it actually does. Since I have spent a crazy amount of time with Ai the last 1-2 years, I figured I would do my best to explain a little more, so we can all be on the same page.

I am assuming what they are trying to argue is that “Artificial GENERAL Intelligence does not yet exist”… which is completely true, and you can verify this with the Turing test:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turing_test

Here are the two definitions according to Wikipedia:

Artificial intelligence: intelligence exhibited by machines.

Artificial GENERAL intelligence: the intelligence of a machine that could successfully perform any intellectual task that a human being can.

Basically, with Artificial GENERAL intelligence, can you create a machine intelligent enough so that a human is unable to determine whether they are interacting with another human or machine? Typically, the Turing test would be performed so that the test subject cannot see who they are communicating with, and they basically communicate back and forth between each other with text messages, and the test subject tries to figure out if they are communicating with a human or a machine. And yeah, we are not even close to seeing this happening.

Also, most of the artificial intelligent machines that we know today are built and trained to perform one specific function, and to be able to do them extremely fast, and usually much more accurate than a human ever could… especially for mundane, repetitive tasks. Basically, they are able to spot patterns that a human would never be able to.

If one day we are able to create an artificial general intelligence machine, then that machine would essentially be able to perform ALL tasks better than their human counterpart, and typically would not even require training… it would learn everything on its own.

This is great and all, but it is unlikely we will see this in our lifetime. And even if we do, I would suggest that artificial intelligence as we know it today (classification, regression, etc.), might actually be better in determining the maliciousness of a file than artificial general intelligence… simply because the pre-execution features are static (and for the most part, binary), and there is no real advantage in complicating things.

Having said that… the artificial intelligence that we know today is not that great of a fit with behavior blocking, but artificial GENERAL intelligence might be amazing if combined with behavior blocking (if and when this ever happens).

Then again… this would just turn into a big cat and mouse game… of who can build the more intelligent machine (assuming the machines are not building themselves ;)).

Maybe it is just best that we lock our computers when they are at risk ;).

It doesn't matter to me as I find testing a farce and just a money grabber. Real World (Real Users) testing is always number one IMO and I like the WSA and VS Combo, AV plus a Computer Lock. Folks lets not turn this into a slamming war it's just My Personal Opinion!

    Thanks,

    TH
