I wonder if you don't get better protection and for free by using pfsense with snort or suricata or Sophos UTM or XG firewall.
What this box do with the network traffic that can be done with snort? I guess the same rules that the box use will be somehow in any IDS

Untangle firewall home license is cheaper than that.

I have one, been using it for about a year. Initial reviews were mixed, in part, due to the "high" cost. I got mine at a substantially reduced price, so price was not an obstacle. In terms of performance, not obvious that it slows down surfing. The initial setup was somewhat complicated (or had a snafu) but the BD phone techs solved issue quickly & painlessly (some tweak on their server side IIRC), and I never think much about it. I think it works better with some routers than others. It will send a warning to my cell phone that a URL was blocked, usually a seemingly innocuous site visited by my wife or son, and sometimes it will block / warn of a bad site in my browser. I don't know enough about Untangle (or similar products) may not be a fair comparison (??) I think it adds a level of protection with little or no performance setback. I recall someone here thought its specs were not fast enough, but the real issue cost for the value. I think Norton is coming out with something that sounded similar to me. I have no cons to say about BitBox, but when it's time to renew my license, it depends on the cost. Overall, I like having it in the security loop.

I look into Box when it came out but the 10/100 limitation put me off as I have a very high speed internet connection (600Mbps). I heard they are releasing Box 2 soon with 10/1000 NIC and faster processor sometime this year. Norton is coming out with Core Security for $199. Which includes 20-Device license for Norton Security. From what I can find so far it looks like Core Security functions like a UTM Firewall on your gateway.

I use PfSense now and I am happy with it but I will watch the reviews of Core Security when it comes out and see how it goes. I used to use Untangle but then they were bought out by a US Govt. linked Private Equity firm in Sept. 2015 and appointed some people to their operations that have very close ties to FBI/CIA/NSA so I stop using it then just for my own paranoia. :))

Have you ever tried Sophos UTM or XG firewall? It's free for home use

I did. One issues I have is Sophos is aggressive for home and block so many things I end up playing too much tweaking. But I like it and it looks great.

What kind of blocking problems? if you had issues with port fwd and xbox, netflix etc here you have several solutions

I don't think norton box or bitdefender box will match the security that you can get with XG firewall

I had issues with Steam, Netflix, PS4, OOMA and one of my LED TV's (60" Samsung). Researching I found something about the hard coded for denial of service causing issues with the TV so I resort to uninstalling until I can study the issue more. I should probably try again due to that being a couple years ago. Currently I use dedicated PfSense box from Protectli that is very robust. Suricata with paid Snort VRT and about 9000 signatures. It seems to work great and not cause any issues.

But I really need to re-check Sophos! I will wait and see review on Core Security or buy one to run my own test when it arrives.

A bit "pricey" I believe for the average home user:
