Strange that there is no mention of it on their support forum.

When I tested it I noticed it didn't show partition names just drive models. Not acceptable or useable.

I stopped using it prior to the end of its BETA test. There were many outstanding issues at the time but the developer was not communicating with the BETA testers. All of a sudden, completely unknown to the BETA testers, the product was released to the public without any explanation.

I can't think of any reason to ever use a product that follows that kind of path to release... I just don't trust the HDS Developers as far as that product is concerned.

    Use at your own risk...

Somebody must have gotten their System smoked by Rollback RX. The HDS "RBrx" and "Horizon DataSys Announcements" Forums have been SPAMmed horribly over the last week... everything from Porn to entries I don't even understand.

I'm not sure how you can even protect yourself (as a Forum admin) from this type of action (vendetta?)...

depend the forum platform, xenforo (used by MT or here) has Ip filtering and limitations for new members. so you can reduce those actions.

Not sure where it came from, but the forum has now undergone some changes to our Human Verification Manager as well as Approval of topics and looking at various actions of a poster to determine validity (i.e. number of links in a post). It seems to have calmed down since... *fingers crossed*

Sorry, I cannot offer a solution for you. But has been mentioned many times over the past year, W10 updates may or may not affect Rollback RX (depending on the amount of "modifications" performed by the updates) and the recommendations have always been... unINSTALL Rollback before allowing any W10 updates... reINSTALL when updates have been successful..

You are apparently running a FREE W10 Pro update (System originally equipped with W7pro). As such it may behoove you to DELAY major "feature" updates (SETTINGS/Updates & Security/Windows Updates/Advanced Options/Defer feature updates) until you've had a chance to prepare Rollback (by removing it) for the MicroSloth attack on your System.

With the rapid increase in W10 update frequency, can RBRX even be a viable product anymore? Because every OS update has the potential to damage RBRX.

    Hi Keatah

If you have to ask, then you have your answer.

Updates aren't a problem for RX, upgrades however need uninstallation and reinstallation of RX because they touch the MBR.
Is it a problem then? not so much, upgrades are once or twice max a year, unless you want keep lot of snapshots.

Yea this happens with ANY and all updates On My System.
Super unhappy about this ... I have used rollback for years.

This is what they say ...

Thank you for contacting us regarding your issue. My name is Ram Sarma and i'll be able to assist you.
You'll need to uninstall Rollback Rx before doing any major updates especially with the anniversary update.
Also make sure Secure Boot from the bios is disabled as well because right now we're experiencing issues.
If you have any other questions or concerns please let me know.
    Thank you and best regards

I do not have Secure Boot in my bios and it seems to happen with any update :(

so you have issues with every security, cumulative updates ?

Anniversary was an upgrade not an update (despite its name). Upgrade are in Gb size while updates are in Mb.

i use RX since win8 never had any issues, you have to clean install your OS and then install RX , if you install RX on a poorly maintained OS , issues are expected.

    TheRollbackFrog,

If chkdsk shows errors, is it safe to fix errors with Rollback Rx installed?

Similarly if sfc /scannow shows integrity violated, is it safe to fix with Rollback Rx installed?

And if Windows 10 detects something & run those troubleshooting on boot, can it mess Rollback?

    Win 10 64 Pro

Wow... you're just zoomin' through this stuff . My personal opinion... very little is safe when Rollback is installed. That's a personal opinion of mine and not necessarily shared by other users of Rollback.

    That said...

SFC /scannow should not violate Rollback's protection scheme, but when complete, the next Rollback snapshot may be pretty big as it will now contain all the bad issues SFS has corrected.

To my knowledge, the Rollback protection driver is in place and running when checkdsk and other BOOTtime applications are invoked from the protected OS, BUT... sometimes Windows has been known to BOOT into its Windows Repair media (which DOES NOT RUN under the protected Rollback Windows System... it usually runs under WinRE, A WinPE standalone mini-Windows System) and run certain repair processes. If this happens, your System, including Rollback, usually gets completely trashed. And if you think you can restore that System (in any form) with your recent imaging backup, you will find out that will not be possible either without a lot of general BOOT knowledge and some helpful tools that can reconstruct your System BOOT paths.

    TRF,

Yes, I am trying few backup software.

And yes, my 3rd query was related to that Windows repair processes...Thank You for an extremely important info.

Those Windows repair processes doesn't affect imaging software like Macrium & its Pre-OS console?

Why wouldn't a sector-by-sector backup capture everything necessary to restore a bootable rbrx system?

My C: drive is a 1tb drive with about 140gb on it. Sector by sector really isn't in the cards. And don't bother with the p word.

In almost all cases, it does (there are a few exceptions in the way imagers manage their BOOT path recreations), but, as Pete mentioned, some configurations are a bear to backup in that way.

YK seems to be trying out a plethora of Backup applications... I'm not sure he understands that Rollback RX IS NOT a backup application at all.

Would it be possible to zero-out the unused sectors? If so then you'd get an image size around 100GB with compression?
