Correct. They are not enabled and stay greyed out and unclickable.

Never mind though. I've ripped MB 3.0 out with REVO and reinstalled MBAM 2.x.

I know this won't go down well with the MB fanboys, but seriously, is there any chance that an MB 2.x line can continue so that we don't have to disable half the program? I don't need exploit protection, I'm using Alert, and I'm not interested in Ransomware Protection either - I have a backup of my machines kept disconnected. Seems a waste of my systems resources to install a program I'll only half use... if that. I'll actually be more inclined to disable MB starting with Windows with modules I don't need nor want included.

    Rant over. :ninja:

No issues with this either, everything runs just fine.

Well I'm glad your website exclusion works but I fail to see how that is relevant to a program included with Exploit protection.

Why not simply disable those features, this is easily done, no?

Yeah, and you get a great big warning every time you start your machine.

I don't want these features so I'll stick with MBAM 2.

I was considering buying this but I can't justify the purchase based on the tests I've seen. They all show detection rates for MBAM 3.x are rather terrible. Does anyone have a counter argument to this, or can provide evidence to the contrary? I really wanted to add some real-time malware protection and this would've been my first choice had it performed better.

These are most of the reviews/tests I have looked at:

Though there appears to be considerable intellectual horse power behind this program, the facts based evidence of its protection performance suggest that it certainly far from the best as a primary solution. At the very least I would suggest using a strong light antivirus with Malwarebytes 3.
Of course there are light world class anti-malware solutions (which work in different ways) that can be considered should you decide not to go the Malwarebytes route.

I use MBAM v3 alongside Windows Defender (Windows 10). The PCmag review suggests using it with regular antivirus which I think is a good solution. MBAM is more effective against malware and PUPs than any AV I've used and the scans in version 3 are dramatically faster.

Anyone having issues with getting the definitions update functionality to, well...update? Every time I click on 'Check for UPdates' the progress bar shows activity but when that completes it is still indicated that the definitions are out of date?

    Regards, Baldrick

I've been using Kaspersky AV along side it. I have used MBAM as an on-demand scanner for years and I just did a Win 7 reinstall so I was updating some of my security programs. I read some suggestions to run a real-time malware program alongside your AV, hence why this new MBAM 3.0 came to mind. Especially with the added modules in the new premium release.

The suggestion that MBAM 3.0 can replace your AV program just seems crazy, especially when it was stated that the program doesn't keep AV signatures older than 6 months (I think that is in the PCMag article).

ok this isn't funny!!!!! just rebooted my computer and my lifetime lic for premium downgraded to a lifetime free. when I upgraded to 3.0 I deactivated the installed key and entered my litetime lic. see screen shots. I knew I was going to have issues if I upgraded. that is why I kept asking about the upgrade policy and never did get a good answer. any ideads besides going back to 2.0?

Deinstall it, and try to install it again.
Someone reported this problem too: "Full 3.0 turns to free."

    mood

when I installed it they claimed it would pick up my lic automaticly. it never did. first time I installed in in SD and so I could revert back to 2.0 on restart. this last time it installed and did not pick my malwarebytes lifetime to I entered my lifetime and it took it, then after a week it just reverted back to lifetime free.
I will try uninstalling and reinstalling but if that doen't wotk will just go back to and older image.
you don't think it has anything to do with this last insider update?

    UPDATE:

there were left over folders in program date, program folder and sys32 - drivers. could not delete them using fileassasin.
install would not complete since there were two sys files left in the drivers folder.
booted up to a Linux distro and deleted that extra garbage left behind. was able to reinstall 3.0 and enter my lifetime key. will how long that lasts.:thumb:

Just attempted to install over MBAM 2.2 and once again nothing after the first UAC prompt.

Uninstalled MBAM 2.2 using mbam-clean, restarted and could then install MB 3.0.5.

It has been downloading updates ever since. :cautious:

It's been a week since we heard from any of the MBAM Reps. The last comment was from Marcin. I hope they didn't get mad by some of the comments on this forum?
