Have you accidentaly enabled "Offline Mode" or "Game Mode?"

Looks like "Game Mode" is on.

    YW :)

Same thing happened to me and it coincided with EMIS 12. I posted on EMIS Forum that I thought the new tray icon was distracting cuz of the bright yellow arrow. I also said that the new icon was unattractive. doh :)

    Obviously, Emsisoft keeps privacy on.

So you can play games with EAM on?
What about games that upgrade like Star Wars: The olrd republic?
I wonder if EAM will see such games falsely as malware being upgraded or block the website?
I'm playing Star Wars: Old republic and they all need upogrades from week to week through their websites.

No CDN detected by Wappalyzer on their homepage either.

Emsisoft does not only rely on signatures to detect such malware. Yes, some signatures will have been added and updated to detect new variants but that will always be a cat-and-mouse game to play catch-up against any changes malware authors make to their creations. This is why most modern AVs these days have other technologies in place and Emsisoft is no exception. Their researchers, and those at other AV companies, will know of and read about such posts at github.io so can keep ahead of developments. I daresay those researchers keep a few cards close to their chest that we don't know about too. ;)

Do you guys exclude your other security software in EAM or is it not necessary in the latest version?

Exclusions will mostly provide a performance benefit. Just take a look at Settings/Exclusions. You can add the programs/program folders there.

Exclusions are not inherited. So unless the child is excluded as well, it will be monitored.

Would these "exclusions" still have firewall protection?

note "all allowed" is not an exclusion.

"all allowed" still hooks into programs monitoring what they do, so incompatibilities as well as performance issues can still occur.

A exclusion is to actually whitelist from monitoring, sadly that whitelist is still bugged in v12, they fixed after a "lot" of moaning from me in v11, but now I reported it again in v12 they seem to have no enthusiasm to fix again.

Since fabian a developer posts here maybe he can fix it?

Fabian emsisoft v12 is broken that any apps/services that are whitelisted that launch "before" EAM are monitored even tho they whitelisted, if those processes get killed and restarted then they are correctly whitelisted.

I don't work on those parts. That being said, it works just fine for me. Just tried it to make sure. Processes that have exclusions defined are not being monitored when you start EAM after the excluded process launched here.

They are still being monitored by the firewall.

Thank you, I was under the impression that "excluding programs" included firewall protection.

Just a little update on that: I found one corner case where processes could still end up being monitored. Should be fixed in the end of December/begin of January release.

Is it possible now to use EAM just as an on-demand scanner, or is EEK only suitable for that? Can one just stop a2service to achieve this?

I've been running EAM for about a year, as I like it, and also want to support the company by renewing my license, but can't find an economic enough deal, as I only want a 1 PC license for this, and can't justify paying price now offered (probably due to fall in £). Please don't regard me as a Scrooge, and I may yet renew, even at the higher price which is 30% more than I paid last year.
