When was the last time you updated?

I ask because there's a chance you don't have last WU Client installed.

    Download KB3172605.

Go to Win updates in Control panel and select ''never search for updates''

    Reboot.

    Install the KB

    Reboot

Turn updates back on in control panel and after 10 mins or so you should have your updates.

(did 3 machines in this way today that couldn't update)

It's not my machine! Over the last 36 hrs approx 10 updates installed, one was the update for WU. Since then ~24hrs none have installed, just says installing. If an error occurred I'd track it down & fix, NO ERROR , msg. Tried WU & 360 patch-up, I believe both are the same, diff way to get to it.

dl KB3172605 64bit, check ctrl panel system 64 bit. did 'never search for updates' > reboot > install KB3172605 "this update is not applicable to your computer."

NOTE: When I went to WU apply 'never search for updates' noticed red X for WU, no error msg, ignored 'never search for updates' apply reboot, tried the KB. Went to turn on & the red X is gone & searching

Messrs, Mister X, guest, Stapp. Thank You.

Ran chkdsk c: /r, Tweaking's repair, tried again with the KB solution offered by Stapp both 32 bit & 64, didn't work. WU after turning back, ran for hours nothing. Then 360 Total, popped up a list of 167 WU's, clicked ok, low & behold all 167 installed, reboot to finish & now all is well, with my newest machine.

    Thanks Again & Merry Christmas
    Rico
