Or maybe they didn't want to block and they could detected them, but they choose to whitelist all the malware government creates-none should ever trust any governement of any sort on any level-that's the one thing you seem to be naive, and it's not a secret that large enterprises are working with governmenet that includes antivirus/antimalware/antirootkit companies..

So, what is your security setup-I hope you won't yell at me on this question....

Well, that depends, how do we know that large companies are not paying to these "100% independent" testing organizations so that they create only malware that leading antivirus/antimalware companies can detect, warn and block?
One thing I did learn in this brutal world-trust none and trust nothing.

What about Windows 10 updating/upgrading, there were recent problems with Windows 10 build 1607, Comodo either didn't work for many people until they fixed these issues.

Regarding Avira I have been using so many times in the last 10 years and it has never failed me-not once, so for one thing I can tell everything the best for Avira antivirus-but that's because of vast experience with Avira.
I don't know about BitDefender, Kaspersky and similar top level companies.
I do know none can match Comodo when it comes to blocking stuff (it's always 100%), detection is not so good, the only reason why it is at the top is because of their HIPS since every Comodo product has it.

That is really not true-you don't pay attention to details, the fact is Emsisoft has always been up there with all the mentioned products and Emsisoft does consistently/constantly detect and block equally the same, minority of times even better than even Kaspersky, BitDefender, Avira (look both file detection tests and look also real-world dynamic tests through the last 5 years)-the key difference is in words "user-dependent" , this is what Emsisoft asks users to answer block or allow, the omly real advantage BitDefender and similar do is that they do not ask users and they block malwares by default without asking any questions.

So, no, you are not telling/posting the truth at all, when you are posting that Emsisoft does not protect equally good as much as Kaspersky, BitDefender and Avira do all the time-that's pure lie-of course if you want to trust av comparatives and av-test organizations.

Here, it appears that BitDefender and other AVs/AMs do detect as malicious this Finspy trojan after all:
    http://lqdc.github.io/making-finfisher-undetectable.html

But, how long it took; 4 years?
However, on the same link I gave, it proves how easy is to hide Finspy trojan from detection of all antiviruses/antimalwares.
Not even Emsisoft, BitDefender, Kaspersky, Symantec and Avira can detect Finspy trojans anymore.
I bet, not even Comodo's HIPS in/on Paranoid mode level can help to both detect and block with this modified FinSpy Trojans.

It is not about lying or telling the truth, it is about reporting results from tests carried out by two testing organizations that are respected here at Wilders. If you find "user dependent" good enough that is your problem, most average users don't know what is legitimate or malware, therefore Emisoft in my books fails big time. Now Amarildojr finds Avira's engine as one of the best, and his statement got you all agitated... I quite frankly don't give a hoot one way or the other...

Well, user dependent is not that heavy if you read what it is trying to do to your system, if people are that dumb, than's that's their problem, it's not the problem of Emsisoft. I said I respect Avira because of the vast experience with it-and I know based ony my vast experience how good it is, it has never let me down not even once-so it's not enough to be that good in tests, the real testers are us-the users of these products.

I think it's a combo of their Sandbox and HIPS, though I think the Sandbox has a higher slice on their success.

Never had a problem there either. In fact, I upgraded from 7 Ultimate to 10 Pro and had Avira installed, and it worked out-of-the-box. They said I would need to update my Avira install, but that was not necessary for it to function. Then I did update the Avira thing, and it worked.

I also installed it in the 1607 ISO, no problems there either.

I think the same way, that's why my Ultimate trust goes to myself :argh: I used to fireup a W7 install on VirtualBox and test AV's there, grabbing links to 0-day malware and some dated ones. Avira was always on the top, it grabbed more than Bitdefender, Avast, and even Kaspersky. But they all improved since then.

Interesting, I did the same tests against 0-day malwares just last year and guess what Avira was not the best, I configured all AVs on their highest possible levels and Avira was slightly below BitDefender and Kaspersky, I don't know if you did the same tricks in configuration, maybe that's why your test results ennded up Avira having detected and blocked more than BitDefender and Kaspersky?

Avira does have problems with Avira launcher/Avira Connect launcher, all those unnnecessary toolbars for nothing I hate it, they only slow down my computer, and you cannot play games with Avira free, plus it screwed my Nvidia driver which I had to reinstall it from scratch. Avira has many bugs.

I don't like it either. Plus, nowadays they automatically download their VPN and that "optimizer" (don't remember the name), but gladly I sit through the install and just click the Cancell button.

What do you mean? It's one of the fastes AV's to launch games or open files, and it doesn't impact performace in-game (frames/second) at all. Well, for me at least :p

This might be related only to NVIDIA. One of the first things I do after a system install is to install the video driver (AMD card), and not once had problems with any AV vendor I tested.

But I do remember lots of NVIDIA bugs in the past, and most still exist today.

I also set my products to "Maximum". However, AV testings are not scientific for the vast majority of times, so what works for me might not yeld the same results for you.

Not likely, because the problem is in the software :)
    But this is getting off-topic.

I have always wondered why is this a case?
Just for a record, BitDefender and Kaspersky might have been better in prevention/detection those days when I tested them, but the difference between Avira and Kaspersky and BitDefender was very small, indeed.

It doesn't matter I solved the issue, it was not Nvidia problem it was in them game itself.

    Speaking about Government based malware...

We are forgetting Flame and others where no AV caught them....Everyone failed and speaking who caught well....no one....

Again i can show you X number of Av's detecting X sample.....its just cat and mouse game.Lets not make this a A vs B

  23. APT malware takes years to detect. Campaign's are highly targeted. You can never block highly targeted malware with signature based AV.

The more a malware campaign is spread the more chance it is discovered. AV tests were never intended to test zero day malware.

Until a sample is discovered in the wild there can be no test or signature for it. When that kind of malware is found the threat actors are onto the next malware.

You are right. Adding: Cat and mouse with regards to the bad guys versus good guys. It's A versus B among the "good" guys, with hundreds of millions in cash and prizes.

I apologize but I have to admit I don't know what do you mean by APT malware?
