I have 3 typical kids ( 11, 17 & 18 ) who doesn't have any computer knowledge as far as security/privacy goes and aren't interested in the least, so I wanted to share my configs for them and hopefully you guys will do the same :)

FYI, The computers are older and the setups that I have chosen, run best on them (I have tried lots of different programs) so that's why most of the security is the same but imho is some of the best I have found and the lightest ;)

    Family Computer
Zemana AM, NVT ERP (LD Mode), Keyscrambler, Shadow Defender (Enabled 24/7), Unchecky, Startup Sentinel, custom hosts file, OpenDNS + DNSCrypt, Chrome with Netcraft & Avira Browser Safety, uBlock Origin and KB SSL Enforcer extensions and Chrome built-in Malicious site blocking + I force strict safe search in google and youtube via hosts file and I have other search engines blocked.

    Son's Laptop #1
VoodooShield, Watchdog AM (Zemana Re-Brand) Keyscrambler, Shadow Defender (Enabled 24/7), Unchecky, Startup Sentinel, custom hosts file, Yandex DNS (Via DNS Angel), Chrome with Netcraft & Avira Browser Safety, uBlock Origin and KB SSL Enforcer extensions and Chrome built-in Malicious site blocking + I force strict safe search in google and youtube via hosts file and I have other search engines blocked.

    Son's Laptop #2
SecureAPlus, Keyscrambler, Shadow Defender (Enabled 24/7), Unchecky, Startup Sentinel, custom hosts file, Yandex DNS (Via DNS Angel), Chrome with Netcraft, Avira Browser Safety, uBlock Origin and KB SSL Enforcer extensions and Chrome built-in Malicious site blocking + I force strict safe search in google and youtube via hosts file and I have other search engines blocked.

They have never even had a close call with malware, I think they are locked down pretty well :thumb:

Do you use DNS services with enabled content filter - parental control?

Adguard has a pretty good parental control.

For kids, I try to keep things simple. IOS devices. OpenWrt/LEDE on the router with built-in adblocking lists (including Peter Lowe's ad list as main list plus some others), and additional filtering with OpenDNS Family Shield (DNS pushed out to clients). That's about it. I've tried Adguard's DNS a few times throughout the beta phase but it has caused far too many problems with smartphone apps/games. But in a way that also goes to show us how bad smartphone apps/games are when it comes to built-in advertising/tracking and such.
