wow krusty that is some shocking news.....after all you being a longtime norton user and a very good help on the norton community page. I also dumped norton , because of the ridiciously high renewal price of norton security! I paid 40 euro's for the first year and a symantec representative told me I would be almost 60 euro's when I did prolongue my subsciption automatically. now using eis and my system has become more responsive / snappier and webbrowsing did get faster also. ;)

Yeah, the Norton forum Admin were a little, shall we say surprised, too. Oh well - still no infections on my machines. :D

    KIS 2017
    on demand: HMP, AdwCleaner
    Browser hardening: uBlock Origin
    UAC at max
AutoRuns, ProcessExplorer and Everything to see what's running on my system
    daily backups
OS: Windows 10 (AU) Home Premium 32-bit

That's all. I used some more real-time stuff until recently, but these programs made my computer unbearably slow, so I got rid of them. Is there anything I should add?

OK, here's a revised setup, hopefully for keeps:

    Windows Defender/firewall
    VoodooShield subscription
Hitman Pro on demand/HitmanPro Alert anti exploit
uBlock Origin and NoScript in Firefox (somehow they work great together, what I did?)
UAC prompt ON, local administrator account

Everything updated within one day of release.

  12. Windows 10 Pro 32 bits (setup is unchanged since August 11th when KapLabAR was added):
    1. WFW 2-way, GPO disabled riskware (remote, shared and legacy software & services)
    2. Only allow signed drivers to install (GPO) and signed executables to elevate (UAC)
    3. Deny execute access for removable drives (GPO) and SRP basic user default deny
    4. Deny execute in all user folders with ACL (except Temp) and SRP (except Admin)
    5. Run internet facing software (mail, media, browser) in AppContainer sandbox
    6. Smartscreen whitelists & Kapersky Anti-ransomware blacklists executables

Updates run elevated and install from Temp folder (so are auto-allowed). With right click 'Run as Admin' (allowed by SRP) I can easily install programs from Temp folder (allowed by ACL). UAC prevents unsigned programs to install/elevate. Any shoot in the foot errors are prevented by Smartscreen (whitelist) and KapLabAR (blacklist).

Asus Transformer Windows 8.1 Home I have the same setup from 1-5 (no whitelist/blacklist, because I use it only for travel and business). On Home version I don't have Group Policy, so SRP basic user is added through registry hack and deny execute access removable drives with USB Manager.

For Windows 8 and later you will need to create it other way (messages are not available any more). You can use this trick that works on Windows 8, but I didn't try it on Windows 10: http://www.askvg.com/fix-cant-create-tasks-to-display-messages-in-windows-8-task-scheduler/
Select action Start a program, put in "msg" without quotes and argument with * and desired text.

No, it's not too much, but the letters you type are too big and too red.

This setup doesn't look minimalistic to me. Sorry I just had to make this joke. :D
