Thanks for the post Rasheed187 but after reading about this utility, having to respond to every program trying to access files. it looks like it would be more annoying than helpful. My opinion it looks like Overkill and not really needed on a Mac, but that's just my opinion.
Little Flocker does seem a little obtrusive but I guess it works in a similar way to Little Snitch in that regard. An interesting read regarding macOS security can be found here: https://github.com/drduh/macOS-Security-and-Privacy-Guide
I use Murus as a frontend for pf on my OSX systems. I don't bother with AV. For browsers, I use Safari or Chrome w/wipr on one and uBlock on the other, ghostery on both to disable annoying stuff (disqus, livefyre, social networking stuff, beacons, etc).
It isn't any different than similar tools on Windows, it's an effective way to stop data stealing apps. The idea behind it, is to only allow trusted apps to access your most important data. http://www.macworld.com/article/310...tle-flocker-could-prevent-mac-ransomware.html
BTW, I just read that a tool like Little Snitch is capable of alerting about outbound connections made by browser extensions, pretty cool. Apparently this is not possible on Windows. https://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html
Latest news is that Little Flocker has been bought by F Secure, and they will release a new product, but sadly enough not for Windows. https://www.f-secure.com/en/web/press_global/news-clippings/-/journal_content/56/1075444/1968982 https://campaigns.f-secure.com/xfence/
Webroot Internet Security Complete w/ Backup Malwarebytes for Mac macOS Sierra...seems simple enough.
