Reduce RAM usage in Chrome with a small extension that does more

Not only this extension will let you chose website you would like to display each time you open a new tab, it also will reduce RAM usage as well. The size of extension is only 6k

 

my new tab is blank - so why open another site which uses more memory?
what is your purpose? concerning new tabs or fast dial chrome is a pain.

 

The size of an extension package has little to do with the amount of memory it uses when running. I could create an extension which package size would be much smaller than this one and yet consumes massive amount of memory and CPU.

 

Google chrome allows you to set a new tab page natively without the use of an extension.
