    Anon,

Do you also have the "All Files" option checked in the "Real-Time Protection" section? (see attached img)

And may I kindly ask why it's better to uncheck "Follow Symbolic links", "Optimized Scan" & "Integrity checking of system files" under Additional Settings?

    Thanks.

    Yes.
    --------------
Because these options create more problems than solutions.... ;)

You may read the description in Help File under the "Help Center > Configuration > System Scanner > Scan" section.

Strange. After the latest update my Avira Systray Icon is gone.
I'm not using Avira Laucher, so I had the "standard" icon for Avira Antivirus working fine (avgnt.exe), but now it's not loading as usual anymore.

Yes I think the update is broken.
I thought its my system problem so I did a clean install of avira to find that it has no tray icon. Also the stupid launcher didn't install this time.

I dumped avira about 3 months ago, lots of problems with that launcher and the UI... i was sick and tired of it.

    Thanks!

As of today I'm experiencing the exact same thing. Avira updated itself to the newest .22 product version and after that the icon disappeared from the system tray.:thumbd:

What is going on here? How can we fix this?

fyi: I have 3 PC's with Avira Pro U22 and no problems.
    -------------
May the following workaround fix your problem:

    1. Go to Configuration > General > Security section and uncheck the following options:
    a) Protect processes from unwanted termination
    b) Advanced process protection
    c) Protect files and registry entries from manipulation
    d) Apply changes and exit configuration.

    2. Perform a “modify installation” as per KB 964 =
    3. Reboot the computer.

    4. Revert the changes in configuration and reboot once again.

Sorry, anon, but I'll not perform these procedures. Everything was working fine before and I never had this kind of issue.
It's clearly a issue related to U22, since many people have this same problem. Here, I'm using Win 7 64bits, maybe some issue related to the SO's

Thanks for this. I'll try this out later. First, I'll try to fully uninstall Avira, sometimes a clean install does wonders. And if that won't help I'll try your 'workaround' fix.

Just one thing though - I'm not using the Avira Launcher. I disabled "SystrayStartTrigger.exe" in CCleaner and I disabled "Avira Service Host" in services.msc.

How about you? Are you using the exact same 'tweak' like me? I'm really curious about that now. Otherwise the issue could be 'tweak' related.

I am running Avira Pro and it recently updated to version 15.0.22.54 with no effect on the tray icon. I am not using any workaround for the launcher. I don't look at the Avira gui very much so the launcher doesn't bother me too much.

As Hiltihome once pointed out, an easy way to get rid of the launcher is to disable it through Task Manager/Startup/Avira Launcher/Disabled, and then you must reboot your system, it really works. My 3 machines with Avira haven't yet received the new update, therefore I can't comment on the tray icon and the new update.

After the latest 15.0.22.54 update, the tray icon in Windows 7 64-bit is gone from Antivirus Pro. You can still get the tray icon of the Launcher with the latest Launcher version, but I don't want the Launcher.

    What a pain!

Oh boy... more Avira bloat and forced cloud storage usage. I'll stick with StickyP.

Same here. One of my machines on Win 10 updated to 15.0.22.54 (for some reasons the second one on Win 10 didn't update yet) and the icon disappeared from the tray. It will show up only if I enable the launcher through Task Manager/Startup. I wonder whether it is intentionally done by Avira to force the use of the launcher... What I did is from the start menu I right clicked the Avira tile (or the Avira entry 'Start Avira Antivirus) and pinned the Avira icon to the taskbar, although quite frankly even the use of the launcher is not really a deal breaker.

Right now after updating Windows with the Tuesday (Wednesday here in Seoul) cumulative updates, suddenly the Avira icon is back in the tray on one Win 10 machine. My second Win 10 machine is updating at the moment hence I'll see if I get the icon back as well...
No, my second machine after updating to V. 15.0.22.54 lost the tray icon as widely reported and did not get it back with the Win cumulative update... Go figure.

Well it's gone again after several reboots! Which might have something to do with Windows rather than Avira after all...

The issue has been fixed  :
With U22, the Avira Antivirus won't have an own tray icon anymore if there is no launcher installed.
