Hoping someone can provide suggestions. Just got a sizeable Windows 10 update last night (I'm using version 1607) and I noticed this morning that when I run HitmanPro, it first gives me the "do you want to allow this app to make changes" message (which I do not remember seeing before) and when I scan I get no results. This is concerning in that before it seemed like it would find 100+ cookies at a time. I scanned with Norton as well and it is not finding cookies either.

Any ideas? Did the window update somehow "block" cookies? Seemed like the update reset some of my settings such as when I launched Edge, it gave me options to set it up like a new user.

Also, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling HitmanPro -- when I input my key, it gave me a message saying that I've reached my maximum use of the key?

Just nervous in that I'm not seeing the 100+ cookies at a time like I used to which HitmanPro would delete.

    Thanks!

Could this update be the Anniversary Update? The User Account Control prompts have changed with Win10 AU, so that is probably what you are seeing.

I can't help you with the cookies.

    Hello,

    I'm jonathan, 27 years the october 19th,
I have problems with boot with my verbatim store 'n' go usb key on windows 7 pc:

The hitmanpro.kickstart drive (64 Gb): until october 1st, 2016, i had error of boot with "fails to boot" by pressing 1 or 3, and blocks in infinite loop on "read mbr starting bootcode" by pressing 2, and certains if works correctly, it's hoes to "preparing automatic repair" Windows screen, causes reboot cancels the hitmanpro scans, but to repair the october 1st, 2016 this bugs i have repaired/rebuilded the verbatim store 'n' go's MBR with a partition manager, and now i have on his boot the "no device detected - press any key to restart"

OK, downloaded the 280 (b) and have a small, just-for-info question. The last time the subject was discussed in this thread (that I could find) was years ago. In Settings, you have "protection against LNK vulnerability" but I cannot check this option. It stays blank. Have the Alert also, is this why?

Edit: Also, do you recommend creating an account with Virus Total to get this feature--in Advanced Settings.

    If I'm not mistaken:
The HitmanPro "protection against LNK vulnerability" is rather obsolete.
It was only relevant long ago, before Microsoft provided an update to fix the LNK vulnerability.
Only if the Windows update to fix the LNK vulnerability is not installed, the HitmanPro "protection against LNK vulnerability" will be active.
I hope that someone will correct me if I am wrong.

    Edit:
Thanks, mood, for referring to Erik's November 26, 2010 post.
OK, so I was not wrong. :)

Oh jiminey, so it was. :'(

I'll research the Virus Total question also, I'm sure it's in here somewhere.

Thank you, mood and Stupendous Man.

The Kickstart functions no longer work properly due to updates by Microsoft.

We will remove the feature in the next build until Kickstart is needed again to get past screenlocker malware (which is no longer prevalent). Then we will invest into making Kickstart work again on recent versions of Windows.

HitmanPro 3.7.14 Build 280 (64bit) has been installed for quite some time on my pc, as has FileHippo App Mgr. However today, HMP suddenly found that FileHippo.AppMgr.exe is a Trojan. What has happened that I didn't catch? I have not updated either in the past 2 days and yesterday this didn't show. Appreciate any input about this. Thanks. Log is attached.

Not everyone has FileHippo App Manager installed, of course.
If I had it installed, I would have checked, but I haven't.
Give it a few more days, to see what others who have FileHippo App Manager installed see with a HMP scan.

Don't use FileHippo App Manager, but do happen to have it installed. Just scanned with latest HMP (same version as you), but no threats found.

An update for Zemana AntiMalware was flagged as malicious. Should be a false positive.
In the logfile of this post #7289 you can see the same file.
