" Kind of yes " would be my reply to that .

It always makes me wonder what sort of privacy compromises people fear , regarding registry cleaning and/or defrag ,
because there sure as sherbet aren't any system performance benefits to be gained :)

Since PrivaZer already offers Registry Cleaning, why Not including Registry Defrag/Compact?

There are users who do Not own SSDs...;)

True enough, yet this is touted for SSDs as well, and while it might obfuscate things for a casual explorer, it can not assure forensic proof outcomes for SSDs.

Is it possible to schdule a cleanup with portable version? It always asks to install before scheduling
CCleaner can schedule a cleanup with its portable version

Whenever i run Privazer i end up with less free space then before according to the program. After a restart of the Pc it also says so in explorer. Whats up with that - anyone knows?

Is it creating a restore point each time it runs? If yes, that can be the reason

Nope, it does not. I tried it for example yesterday on a fresh install and it did as it usually does. Firstly during the scan it counts down and after a while it counts up and the end result is - less space. With 1GB. I have only tried it once on different occasions on different Pc`s like in the example. Never repeatedly on the same Pc. Always the same behaviour and the less space fact remains even after several days. At least that is what it says in Windows explorer.

Thats is why i do not use it, just test it now and then.

    Hello,

it is caused by restore points and existing system snapshots that may store changes made by PrivaZer.
To monitore this go into your "system protection" as shown below, click on "Configure" to see the space allocated for restore points.

Compare it BEFORE and AFTER cleanup with PrivaZer
    and keep us posted.

    OK?

I do not use Windows backup in any sort of way at all and have it all shut off. I use RollbackRX for snapshots.

RollbackRX is storing changes made by PrivaZer.
Remove some snapshots if possible to recover your free space.

You can "delete without a trace" on an SSD, just not single files. Since only block "pages" can be deleted on an SSD, individual files are next to impossible to actually erase. However, a full free-space wipe of an SSD should "delete without a trace" and as forensics people already know, SSDs are a two-way street...they can be terrible for privacy in the short, short term. But far more private (due to SSD garbage collection) over the long term. Most forensics professionals would rather attempt recovery from an old-fashioned spinning hard drive than an SSD. Especially if looking for deleted files more than a week old.

While it may be possible to secure erase and entire SSD, free-space wipe is no more secure than file wiping (worst case is that you are wiping different blocks). Free space wiping marks the original blocks as free and writes new blocks with zeros or random junk, leaving file traces largely untouched. Need proof? Use EnCase to examine your wiped drive.

I have a question that I have submitted to Privazer through their website and via email and have not received a response. Could someone tell me what setting causes the Windows 10 Event Log to be cleared. I have unchecked the Computer/System Event Log box to no avail. I am trying to chase a Windows problem and keep losing my logs. I guess the easy answer is to stop running Privazer until I get it sorted, but I'd rather not.

Do you have encase and know how to use it? I am curious about something. Shadow defender has an option to encrypt the write catch. It also has an option to make everything run using RAM rather than writing to the disk. On a clean computer, I would like to see a forensic analysis after running it and downloading many files etc, but shut down when the RAM is close to being used up. I am betting that encase will find nothing. But I am just unable to prove it.

    Hello @GPM,

do you also use another cleaner?

No. The Event Viewer log shows 'log clear' 4 minutes after the scheduled Privazer start.

    Hello,

    @GPM,
so far we are unable to reproduce the issue.
Can you check your settings :

    • click on "scheduled" at the bottom-left corner

Click on the "setup" link :
    Sans titre.png

Click on "system", then "options" :
    upload_2016-10-4_8-55-11.png
    • verify that the "Eventlog" option is unchecked.
    Ok?
