I updated flashplayer on one of my Debian systems over the weekend. Was easy as pie! I don't use Adobe except on one or two systems.
why should we keep using FF when chromium works great? I would not even know how to upgrade FF let alone flash player.
Chromium works great only if you don't get a lot of Aw, snap! web pages. FF is far more stable connection-wise than Chromium and doesn't suffer from such annoyances. -- Tom
Because Mozilla has demonstrated care in regards to user rights and user privacy. Their track record is not perfect- and some scary things even loom on the horizon- but they are far more desirable in terms of privacy than Google. While Chromium is indeed better than Chrome itself and while alot of its privacy incursions can be curbed, troubling code has been released and only retroactively removed after public outcry. Expect this trend to continue- corporations like Google only care about profit. Mozilla also has incentive to remain focused on privacy- this is arguably Firefox's greatest asset and likely the only thing keeping it afloat. They are behind on many fronts, but with multi-process now out and sandboxing coming into form, Firefox will be equal in many ways, behind in some (certain web standards), and ahead in others (configuration and privacy). Chromium is a fine product- not even going to suggest it isnt- but Google doesnt give two turds about your privacy or rights.
and so they only security worry was not updated flash? I am pretty sure that how they got the web page my sister was using.
I'm really glad Adobe has changed its mind about updating flash for Linux. It's been nice using Firefox once again. So much more control in Firefox versus Chrome. Thanks for posting this info. Regards, Bob
