    Hi, guys!

    I run Avira Free and HitmanPro.Alert Free on my Windows 10 laptop. Do you think it is enough, or would you recommend an additional anti-malware that can accompany the current solutions that I use? I'm thinking about Heimdal Pro, or Voodoosheeld, or maybe Spyshelter. I'd appreciate your opinion.

    Thanks,

    Koliko

    It is enough, unless you do particular stuff that could lead to infections.

    I do not do anything risky, and I tend to avoid shady sites. Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it.

  4. Replace HitmanProAlert free with Kapersky labs anti ransomeware free. It is for businesses users, but when you enter your name and email with only one desktop in your business you can download it. Check the thread in this forum.

    @Windows_Security

    (Beta), that is purely signature based detection I am going use for a layering effect of security software together. And see what happen!
    For example with the following:

    Voodoo Shield
    Zemana Antilogger

    Hoping that they willl fix,shortly!!!
    WinAntiRansom Service doesnt' start in Windows 10
    Here is work around below:

    http://www.landzdown.com/winantiransom/winantiransom-service-doesnt'-start-in-windows-10
    When 403 Forbidden appear take of this ending /?PHPSESSID=94ceae786f5de3fe4816c73eaaa8e772
    high light delete and/or backspace then hit enter
    and will work.

    Kaspersky Anti-ranomware tool.
    Remember that nothing is 100% all the time. An with the WinAntiRansom

    Windows Defender

    You don't seem to have any protection against exploits, I would go with Sandboxie, they offer a lifetime license.

    KAR sounds good. How stable is it since it is beta?

    Whenever I use Sandboxie with Chrome, I get bombarded with error messages. When I use it with Firefox, I cannot use YT since the video does not play. Any Sandboxie alternative?

    Chrome already has an excellent sandbox, uBlock Origin and anti-exploit software (EMET / MBAE / HMP.A) makes more sense.

    I would work on those issues, the effectiveness of SBIE is unequalled.

    You probably can solve getting Sandboxie messages for Chrome if you run Chrome in a non restricted sandbox, that includes not ticking Drop Rights. For Firefox. Same solution. Test Firefox using a non restricted sandbox so flash and plugin container can run. If this processes are not allowed to run in Sandbox settings, you wont be able to watch videos with Firefox in YouTube. Test using the default sandbox and if the browsers work, your issue as is now has to do with the settings you have in place and you go from there.

    I didn't know you used Chrome. Perhaps it's best to check out VS and SS, which you mentioned in your opening post. To reduce alerts in SS, you could use the "auto-allow" setting which is basically a whitelist for trusted apps.

    I'll test both of them (not at the same time) and see which one is more suitable for me.
    Thanks! :)

    i dont use any browser regularly in sandbox, makes no sense. but i have forced some browser folders into the box (only paid version). and in some conditions i use malwarebytes anti-exploit. a sandbox cannot prevent sending firefox data out, it can prevent the break into system. but in that case nor firefox nor sandboxie, then security in general is pretty busted. if your system is safe your (always current version of) browser is safe too.

    * flash is on demand only, and also content forced in the box. no java here. opera dont have flash.
    and as already noted - windows defender and its adware tweak (mpenableplus regfile) is really powerful.
    Code:
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\MpEngine]
    "MpEnablePus"=dword:00000001
    in my favorit windows forum the majority of experienced users recommend it instead putting like a blind man a full blow and bloated security suite. ofc some should admit not to work as admin instead as limited user (LUA)

    IMO, you should start from scratch (No tweaking), and use the default setting sandbox for a few days or weeks so you get familiarized with it, that way when you eventually make changes in settings, you ll know exactly the effect of the change in the behavior of sandboxed programs.
