    Hi All

Has any one come across a peculiar happening that appears to have started with v3.34 beta; on booting up VS appear to apply the default whitelisting mode' i.e. 'Smart', despite the fact that I have changed it previously to 'Always On', and therefore I would expect it to hold that setting until such time as I decide to go into VS and change it to something else.

The first inkling I get about this is when I get a prompt asking me if I want VS to lock my computer! o_O When it should be locked already.

Not sure if this is an installation issue with 3.34 beta (over the top of the previou version) or just a little bugette that has crept in?

    Regards, Baldrick

Well, that would figure. But I do not want to run in 'Smart' mode I want to run in 'Always On' mode for additional safety and VS should remember/retain the user's selected setting...at least that is my view.

Hey Baldrick... hmmm, that is odd, is it still doing that? If so, I will take a look at it, thank you!

I will catch up asap, but here is the latest version. I think the memory issue is fixed... then again, I thought it was before, then seconds after I posted the latest version, it acted up again.

Please keep an eye on the memory utilization, it should not go sky high anymore. It will temporarily raise when VS blocks something, but it should lower back down to 25-35 mb or so.

Anyway, if the memory issue is fixed, I am hoping the freeze issue will be too... please let me know, thank you!

  6. 3.35 right away i noticed a difference in UI responsiveness, 3.35 is faster, more responsive. Ram usage i would estimate around 47MB's on average. Will post more as we go.

been sidelined for a few weeks, back with new hardware running win7x64. Installed 3.35 here, and also on another win7pro, win7enterprise & win10 all x64.
vs auto mode, current win7 task manger memory usage in (private working set)= 39,356k
curious, looking at usage in process explorer it shows private bytes= 77,684k & for vssvc= 95,708
not sure of the "comparison" seems not comparing apples to apples :?/
I've just started building up the new win7 with helpful apps, so far few diagnostic apps to help unravel true mem usage... Maybe Dan knows.

I am running VS 3.34 in Always On mode and have just rebooted. I can confirm that nothing has changed and it is still in Always On mode.

Here is 3.36... I performed around 2,500 optimizations on this version, a lot of memory stuff as well. I might have broke a small thing or two, so if I did, please let me know. Otherwise, it is running great, I will catch up soon, thank you guys!

BTW, the above link is the only link for now... I have not added it to my signature or the website. Once we are sure that I did not break anything, I will post it to those as well.

    Hi Dan,
Just Installed VS 3.36, so far no issues.
    Memory footprint is a little better at VS.exe - 29Mb and VSservice.exe - 16Mb.
    Thanks
    Gordon

    Installed 3.36 this morning on my Win 8.1 Enterprise x64 laptop. Memory footprint: VS.EXE - 40 to 94MB, Service - 16MB

VS Froze at lunch time :thumbd: so killed and restarted process. A ZAL (Zemana Anti Logger) update popped up immediately. Not sure if that's a coincidence or not, but I always have to respond to prompts to allow ZAL updates.

1 what is the downside to the ALWAYS ON mode?
2 does protection start with windows services, or after login to user account?

Upon a detection with VS 336, I am not see the text "check with 57 antivirus engines". Has this feature gone away? I am only seeing the VoodooAI text.

    3.36.

    Process Explorer.jpg

I've not previously checked VS memory usage so I can’t say how this compares with previous versions.

Never experienced freeze issues with any version of VS by the way.

I installed 336 yesterday - all fine so far but have noticed and memory usage is much higher. Running the same progs as before.
