I guess for the 1% who use these apps, it sucks, but fully supporting them on Chrome OS (Chromebooks) makes sense. Android apps on Chromebooks are the big draw though.

The following schedule is used to retire Chrome apps for all desktop platforms:
    • Late 2016: New Chrome apps will only be available to users on Chrome OS. Existing Chrome apps remain accessible, and developers may continue to update them.
    • Second half of 2017: Chrome apps are not longer displayed when users open the Chrome Web Store on Windows, Mac or Linux versions of Chrome. Extensions and themes remain visible in the web store.
    • Early 2018: Users on Windows, Mac or Linux devices may no longer load Chrome apps.

It appears that Chrome updates (the thread topic, remember?) are much less frequent these days!

    dl.google.com/dl/chrome/install/googlechromestandaloneenterprise64.msi
    x86
    dl.google.com/dl/chrome/install/googlechromestandaloneenterprise.msi

Differences between Consumer and Enterprise versions
    1. Enterprise lands in Program Files (x86) even though x64 is used, while Consumer in AppData.
    2. In a multi-user scenario, msi installs Chrome for all users by default.

Here are a couple other features you should be aware of:
    1. If a user already had the Consumer version installed and you push out the Enterprise edition to their machine, the next time they launch the Consumer edition it will detect that the Enterprise edition is installed. After displaying an explanatory message to the user, the Consumer edition uninstalls itself, the user's Chrome shortcuts are updated and the Enterprise edition is launched.
    2. The user's personal settings from the Consumer edition will be picked up by the Enterprise edition, as long as the version number of the Enterprise edition is greater or equal to the Consumer edition.

Therefore, I recommend to install Enterprise on a clean fresh system.
Also I recommend Enterprise version for those who are using programs like AppGuard or ReHIPS which block running programs from AppData folder.

Not sure if I am imagining it or not, but the font seems to have shrunk. The icons are tiny and the hamburger is very skinny.

If things look different it's because they seem to have made material design the default option for the top chrome of the UI. Just enter chrome://flags & scroll down to Material Design in the browser's top Chrome & you should be able to change it back to non material design. Personally I like the material design look in it.

Thanks! My preference is Non-material. What setting to make Omnibox font larger..?
I'm usually 150% Zoom and the Omnibox is too tiny for me.

Your welcome :) Not sure what setting would make the omnibox font bigger, hopefully someone else might know.

On another note, Chrome 53 also has added some additional Material theme related flags in chrome://flags if you are a fan of the new theme.

53 seems to launch up from a dead stop faster than it ever did and bring along my 20 or so extensions along for the ride.

Loading very smoothly since the update. Using the flags page, I've reverted UI back to normal, but I do like the look of the new history and extension page so left them with the material design.

How do I change it back to larger fonts and extension icons?

I don't like the new smaller look but don't really want to go to flags and change it back. Soon you prob won't be able to use the non mat design anymore.
