    "disabled/Install mode"

I just right click and select exit ;)
or you can task manager and stop VS before install upgrade.

Concerning Voodooshield and the Windows 10 Anniversary update - Maybe my difficulties will help someone.....I had Win 10 (build 1511) installed and attempted to install the anniversary update (build 1607) yesterday. I had Voodooshield 3.30 running. The Windows Anniversary Update downloaded just fine but hung at 32% while showing "Preparing to Install." I hadn't had to OK any Voodooshield balloons so I didn't think the update failure was related to Voodooshield. Windows did provide an error code - "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800705b4)". I clicked the "Try again" and attempted to install the update again - but it failed again. I tried the usual remedies like restarting Windows and running Windows Troubleshooters, but the anniversary update still failed to install. I decided to disable Voodooshield, restart and try the installation again - but had the same results once more - installation failed at 32%. I tried exiting from Voodooshield but even that didn't help.

I ultimately decided to uninstall Voodooshield completely and attempt the anniversary update again. Success!

    I have since reinstalled Voodooshield.

Thanks I am having hassles with AU. I had shut down VS but I will try uninstalling it. I did this too for the initial upgrade as I had DISM blocks despite being disabled.
I had also shut down WSA, but maybe I should uninstall it?

Thank you guys for working out the whole Windows 10 upgrade driver debacle on your own (that is really cool that you did that)… I am close to finalizing everything with the driver signature for the next VS release. Things are just a little crazy right now and they will go back to normal very soon ;).

I never do even with all the previews over the past year and even before Windows 10 was released and never had any issues.

I thank you for your reply, but now that my complementary paid version expired a few days ago, it won't revert to the free version. I just keep getting this:

    ScreenShot_VS_won't revert to free version_01.gif

Even so, I was running the paid version, satisfactorily. It worked! ;) May be, if I ask nicely, Dan might give me a paid license to try on my recently acquired new laptop running Windows 10 Pro x64. I can hope. :)

I would be fine with a video showing him testing it. I said that on MT and caused a rumpus. I think he knows what he is talking about but doesn't seem to want to show us. TBH, given I know so little impressing me wouldn't be that onerous. The thing I love about crulesister is she is excellent at enunciating the theory and demonstrating the practice, plus I like her choice of music.

Yes, I had to finally go with the flow. :D

But, I can't believe the number of services that are running In Windows 10 Pro compared to XP Pro. I set up my desktop in 2007 following the recommendations of Black Viper. It was relatively easy to do. However, with Windows 10 I think it is not so easy. I will just have to go very carefully, I think.

Thanks Paul....I will have a look tomorrow. It seems that it is donorware, so no cost.

    Hi waters

No, not per se...VS is a computer lock that prevents files, processes, etc., from running on your system unless safe or allowed by the user.

    Regards, Baldrick

Voodoo 3.30b keeps blocking regedit. I am NOT trying to use Regedit. The popup comes out of nowhere. If I click Block or Allow or close, the popup just keeps coming back immediately. Any suggestions on how to fix? I am using Win 10 Pro AU.

That is normal! Disable or Shut down VS to use Regedit as Malware can and try to use the Registry to infect so that's why VS blocks/protects it.

I was not trying to use Regedit. It just popped up and the only way to stop the poput is to Exit Voodoo. As you can see it gave no indication as to what was trying to use Regedit. Something unknown using Regedit is very disturbing. Any other suggestions?
