i haven't tried it yet, but am impressed with the options - it's next on the list to try. so there's no compatibility issues - i assume you're just turning off the anti-theft stuff in Zemana and using Avast
I added in the Avast Anti-Theft because Zemana Mobile Security app is currently an AV/AM only. They get along with no apparent problems.
I found Firefox works well with Webroot as well, but it is not supported by the Secure Web Browsing feature (phishing/url malware filter) - but with uBlocko you're well covered anyway.
Webroot requires Andriod 6.0 or above to support the Secure Web Browsing feature. That is one of the advantages of Nexus phones and tablets - you get timely upgrades.
One important thing to do is check if the Android System WebView app is installed and activated. Background: WebView is the browser component of Android (based on the Chromium engine) which is not used by, e.g., Firefox but by many other apps like mail apps, RSS readers, Mercury browser, the Facebook app etc. The thing is that many smartphones which do not get proper Android updates still use old versions of WebView which might still be vulnerable to, e.g., the ugly UXSS bug. Partial updates of Android are not possible, this is also true for WebView. However, starting with Android 5.0 Google published the Android System WebView app in the Play Store. Unless you're using a Nexus phone (which gets the newest Android version anyhow) you should install this app (if it isn't already) as it makes sure that all apps using WebView will now be using the newest Chromium engine and will not be prone to various security bugs. Make sure that that app is activated on your phone (this is also true if you're running a custom ROM!) and update it if necessary. If you can't find it in the Play Store you're still using Android 4.4 or older. Bad luck EDIT: Here's an article explaining that stuff.
Webview is an app provided via Play Store updates, so I don't see why people would have old versions just because they are on an old Android, unless the updates are restricted. Anyway, webview is gone come Android 7. It will all be handled through the Chrome app.
One of my phones has Norton Mobile Security. I find it very effective (100% at AV-TEST) and light on resources. You can get the full version for $5.99 which includes some nice features. I tested Secure Web Browsing feature on Android 5.1 - it works with Chrome, but not Firefox - so it is supported in 5.1, just not with Firefox. you can test here http://www.amtso.org/security-features-check/ If Firefox is supported in Android 6 then "test 4", the anti-phishing test, should be blocked as it is with Chrome
I have NMS installed but I'm not seeing that blocked page with either the Samsung browser or Chrome. Edit: I checked the Mobile version but I noticed you checked the Desktop version.
Yes, it is included with my subscription. In the Settings it shows that Web Protection is enabled but it doesn't block the AMTSO Phishing Test Page on my phone.
Ok, thanks - I must be looking at old info. Unfortunately, WebFiltering is a paid feature & from what i see looking at their website it would be about $30 CAD ($20 US) - which i guess would be fine except there are several free options with comparable features - just minus the Firefox support.
You may have to contact Norton through the in app links. I had read somewhere about the battery saving feature turning off web protection in some of the beta versions. Also, clean browser caches and wait for at least 30 minutes and try again.
