I use WD and on-demand scanners. One of the on-demand scanners is MBAM Free.

What are the pro and cons of upgrading to MBAM Premium?

I read about not having two real-time AVs but also about people having WD + MBAM Premium. Confused. I do practice safe computing.

Products like mbam and zemana am were made to work with other AV without any problem

I've been using Windows Defender and MBAM Premium (lifetime license) since moving to Windows 10 last year without issue. These, in conjunction with Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Free and regular backups, makes for a pretty solid setup.

  4. Malware Bytes intention to integrate Anti-Exploit and Anti-Ransomware into MBAM, make people owning a life time license happy campers: WD + MBAM work perfectly with each other

MBAM isn't an AV so compatibility with other programs is very good.

MBAM is a second-opinion scanner, no full featured av program.
ofc it is possible yo use beside something else, but sometimes it makes no sense.
but be aware, that to background scanners is no good at any time. i wont do that.

I think you meant running 2 background scanners at the same time is not a good idea, and I agree. For example, in its settings, I unchecked 'Run in Background' so that SuperAntiSpyware runs only on demand.

I think that there is a point to be made for using portable versions of on demand scanners to prevent that those apps are running at the same time, because you have to insert the USB stick and double click the app to run them, assuming that you follow the best practice of disabling autorun.

Unfortunately, not all on demand scanners have portable versions and you need to be quite careful that those installed apps are not running without you knowing it.

What I have been reading so far about

    a) WD + MBAM Free vs
    b) WD + MBAM Premium

is this: b) has near zero conflicts between the 2 real time apps.

But I did NOT read something along the lines of WD prevents 90%, MBAM Premium prevents 90%, WD + MB Premium prevents 99%. In other words, I did NOT read about real time protection being improved.

Since I run a scan with MBAM Free nearly every day, it is still not clear to me why I would pay for MBAM Premium, or even what the advantage of b) over a) is, if any. Or is a) even better than b) because of guaranteed no conflict?

    Any further comments welcome!

MBAM Pro offers realtime protection against both antimalware downloading/running, as well as against accessing malicious websites. I'm running it --- in realtime --- along with Avast Free... and have not run into any conflicts. There have been a few occasions (granted, not many) when MBAM would stop me from accessing a website, claiming it was malicious. Had it not been for MBAM, I might have been allowed to access the site.

Of course, I don't know the hierarchy of which "kicks in first"... so it's possible that, had MBAM not acted when it did, that avast (or another component of my multi-layered protection) would have...
