    My 2 cents below::thumb:

No! Layers of security! But without overkill!:)
You may add encryption to your Files/Documents, and disk drive ect...
A Backup! Using the cloud, external drive and so forth!

May, I ask? Which anti-ransom ware? Please!
    Have you look at Winpatrol?

I agree with a layered approach but it is more important that the protecting software possess different attributes. WinAntiRansom (shown in your post) and VoodooShield are not identical but both have a strong anti-executable component - pick the one you prefer both are World Class

I've had no problems running both VoodooShield and WinAntiRansom.

There may be no problem in running VoodooShield with WinAntiRansom but there is likely to be little or no added value, both are fabulous programs. For a truly effective layered approach best to run something in tandem with one or the other but which has different attributes.

Instead of WAR+VS, what's the view on WAR or VS?

WAR is an antiexe with an antiransomware behavioural blocker
VoodooShield is an antiexe with an AV based on AI. The antiexe approach of VS is more powerful.
I would prefer VS although they are not the same kind of animal.

If you want to block ransomware specifically any AV should ok, better that that WAR or Malwarebytes Antiransomware which will be merge with MBAM

Currently MBAR is probably the worst choice a person could make.

Currently is a beta or alpha and it produces many fp's but I guess they will make it quite decent before is merged to MBAM.

I'm aware of you video where only WAR passes the test

False positives have nothing to do with it. It just does not protect (and a 6 month beta is a tad excessive).

CS, I know you were not referring to VS, and I do agree that a 6 month beta is a tad excessive, but I suppose it also depends on if you keep adding features or not (or freeze bugs for example), huh? ;). You do not have to reply to that, I just thought it was funny for obvious reasons.

But the real question is can you please choose the soundtrack for my next video?

Honestly i prefer a long beta with a pristine stable, that some fast released stable with tons of bugs to fix.

Yeah, it is always a judgement call... do you add the new features or do you wrap up the beta? Then if beta testers never get to test the software, once they do start testing, all kinds of bugs can appear (and software conflicts). So there is no easy answer ;).

The funny thing is... through all of this testing, Windows Defender has crashed A LOT, and I have the screenshots to prove it ;). If anything should be stable, it should be windows defender ;).

Although, I have to admit, it did a lot better in the tests then I thought it would, that is before it crashed. I think it was in the low to mid 80%. I was thinking it would do 75% at best. Then again, it has improved dramatically the last year or so from what I have seen.

As a beta-tester (and often doing closed-beta testings) , if i had a software company like yours, i would do a long closed-beta period with chosen testers (whose have been selected for their qualification/skills to diagnose potential bugs/conflicts/issues) , those closed testers will have their own license key, then when major issues are ironed , a public beta period will then start with a updated trial beta-version.

VS- Oh God- absolutely positively not referring to VS!!! And from all I've seen MBAR is just a continuation of CyptoMonitor which I trashed a number of times over a year ago.

And I have a couple of good tracks between 5 and 6 minutes. It's always an issue making a video fit the song.

I totally agree, that is certainly the best approach, but that sounds way too confusing for me ;). I would rather just post the latest VS beta on Wilders and see what you guys find, and we can figure out a way to fix it together.

The funny thing is, I never intended to be a security developer, or for any of this to happen. I simply thought that if the computer was running a web app, it needs to be locked ;). Then you guys pulled me into the whole security scene, which I do find infinitely intriguing, but in all fairness, that is your fault ;). I am just a simple computer guy from KC ;).

Yeah, I totally understand that you were not referring to VS... I just wanted to make a quick joke, then ask you to choose a song for me... you really do have a killer taste in music. I also thought it was funny because I borrowed your line about the soundtrack from a different thread (I think the AG thread) ;). I thought it was funny ;).

And I look forward every Sunday or so for your next video (and not just for the music)... you always have something to demonstrate that makes me see things a little different each time.

BTW... the REALLY funny thing was that when I was posting the first efficacy test video a few days ago on wilders, I was going to say something like "The video does not have the cool music like CS has in hers...". And I actually typed it out and everything, but I decided not to include that.

Also, I was actually serious about the soundtrack, so if you have some cool music, that would be really cool. I know you were concerned about the length, but I think we will be fine because the results were extremely similar to the first test... so it might be a short video with links to the full test video... something like that, I have not figured it out yet ;).

Anyway, thank you for all of the cool videos, it is always cool to learn new stuff.

BTW CS, if you find something that bypasses VS, please feel free to post without warning.

I am absolutely certain there is a way, and between you and Fabian, you two will figure it out ;).
