Having trouble installing HGST_GPT_Disk_Manager_v2.2_en.msi in where this message appears 'Internet connection is required to continue installation' when executing the file. Have tried installing on 4 different machines at 4 different locations and all have valid internet access. Machines all are running Windows XP Pro SP3 32bit.
I too am having this problem. Downloaded the MSI twice and done a restart but it keeps saying "ERROR" "Internet connection required" . I've tempy disabled my firewall and anti-virus but no change. Any clues?
@ ejraleman Have you managed to solve the problem yet? I've raised a support ticket for it but as yet no reply.
No, was going to purchase GPT disk manager but do not want to run into same problem. Let me know how it goes please...thx
@ ejraleman I received this update to my ticket. "Most probably you won't need any additional software llike HGST GPT Disk Manager to access the full capacity of a hard disk with a capacity of more than 2.2 TB, since usually Windows 7 provides native support for the GPT partition table. That error message "Internet connection required" has been reported several times. Our developers are currently working on a solution. You will be informed as soon as this solution will be available. " Win 7 and my oldish motherboard do seem to support the HGST 4T Deathstar, when installed as one complete Primary partition for data use. So I do not need to run a disk manager. Good luck
Yes, I am aware of the drive being accessible using Windows 7...my issue is with Windows XP. I can access my 4TB drive just fine in Windows 7, there are a couple of XP boxes that I still use. Think the problem I am going to eventually have is using the drive externally.
Update: The latest HGST_GPT_Disk_Manager_v2.2_en.msi installs without any errors on Windows XP, so it seems they fixed the problem.
Upon installation, setup did not detect my drive when connected to pci sata controller...only when connected directly to system board. After installation and reboot, blue screen. Let's try this again...uninstall, reboot, install, reboot and this time no issues. Driver works well...
